Hi I was checking to see how every ones research is going ? Dan M - list admin
Some while back I posted a query and was hoping someone would recognize my Cooper's... I see Cooper research going on all over the US but very little in the part of the US that I am most interested... So, I'm going to post my research 'needs' once again -- I am after some very mysterious ancestors. These ancestors seemed to not stay in one place but moved - often! I have been fortunate to connect with a descendent from one of the children but would love to meet more!! And, if anyone recognizes these folks, please let me know!! To start the list, Andrew COOPER married Mehitable WHITE on the 8th of September in the year 1815. This marriage took place in Berwick. Specific information about both Andrew and his bride are rather sketchy! Who were Andrew's parents? Where was Andrew born on the 8th of March, 1792? Maine? If so, where?? Mehitable is listed with a birthday of the 21st of January 1797 and a birthplace as New Hampshire!! This lovely couple had quite a family! Their children number 10... ° Mary Jane was born first - 17 Mar 1818 (Berwick??) ° Alexander came second - 15 Nov 1822. He died 21 Mar 1832 in Berwick ME. ° Ann Elizabeth was born 17 Nov 1824 and died 11 Apr 1832 (I am REALLY CURIOUS as to why these two siblings died so closely together!! Was there an epidemic at this time??) ° Sara Francis was born 23 Nov 1826. She is said to have married a George Smith Piper on 18 Jan 1846 in Brunswick NJ and died at the great age of 99 on the 15th of April 1925 in Hurley SD ° Moses was born 30 Apr 1828 and died 26 June 1831 ° Andrew, Jr was born the 3rd of Aug 1830. He married Esther Andrews ° Elizabeth Ann was born 10 Feb 1833 and died 31 Mar 1849 in Biddeford. She is buried in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Biddeford. ° Twins Alonzo and Lorenzo were born 4 Oct 1835. Both went to California to seek their fortunes in the gold fields. -- Alonzo married Mary Adelaide Lowell on 6 Apr 1863 in Otisfield ME. -- Lorenzo seems to have disappeared! It is said he married in California and produced children but I am unable to verify this information... ° Daniel Webster was born 25 Sept 1838. It is said he was a mariner but I've been unable to verify this bit of information or, find anything further about him... If you go to http://www.budlink.us/Norm_Web_cards/wc01/wc01_400.htm you will see the same information I've provided here... I'd love to discover more about this Cooper family and would appreciate input from other Cooper list members. I've contacted both cities of Biddeford and Berwick and am constantly begging when I see someone announcing they do 'lookups' in any and all printed matter from, in particular, York County... This is my MOST WANTED family with the Pages and Brown's from Brownsville ME a close 2nd. Well, Dan, my husband of 66 years died on December 3. We buried him on December 7, which was appropriate as he was a Pearl Harbor survivor. When I get my emotional strength back, I'm hoping, in Andy's honor, to learn where in North Carolina our John Cooper was born, January 16, 1810.
