Our William Cooper came to Pope Co IL in time to marry Polly Towns in 1833. The story is that he may have been married before and perhaps was from TN. He and Polly had a son William H. in 1841. Polly and William H. went to TX with Her sister and brother in law in 1853. William Sr was probably dead by this time.
