Gideon Cooper was born 1796 in NY (assuming Dover, Dutchess Co. NY) died 1870 in Barry Co. MI. Gideon married Mariah ?. Two known children Jane b. 22 Oct 1827 in Dover and Patience b. 01 July 1837 in Dover. Believe that Gideon's parents were Ephraim (1762 - 1838) and Patience Cooper. Ephraim and Patience had a daughter Mercy Cooper that died 1854 in Dover. Brothers of Gideon might have been Lewis and Samuel (b. 12 Jun 1798). Lewis and Samuel are in the Dover, Dutchess census the same time of Gideon except for when Gideon moved to Michigan in the late 1840's.
