SURNAMES relevant here: COOPER, SLATON/SLETON, PHELPHS, DICKERSON, FRUEN, ANDREWS/ANDERS, HOUSE, HOLEMAN, MARTIN, LAWSON, McLAIN and some unknown wives---Arkansas in St. Francis County, Monroe Co., Logan Co. and other family from Lawrence Co.,/Jackson Co.---and more, currently family lines living in Little Rock area and elsewhere in ARK. **I'm hoping to track my COOPER descendants. So far only info I have is as follows . . .(Note descendants of Benson H. COOPER and Mollie LAWSON, and some birth/death info in bottom Cemetery listing---Ollierean R. COOPER died in 1997---and other recent deaths in the 1980s. I'm hoping some of their lines are alive . . . My Arkansas COOPER line begins in the late 1840s with the migration from South Carolina of Benson G. COOPER and wife Delphia (Delphy) LINDSEY/ LINDSAY--who may have been from GA rather than SC. This COOPER line has been pretty well documented as to ancestors---but is lacking on the descendant information. First found in St. Francis / Monroe County area, Benson G. COOPER and Delphia, farmers, settled in St. Francis County / lived lated in Monroe County. Found them on the 1850 census and the 1860 census. Their son Dillard L. COOPER, born about 1838, SC is my great-great grandfather---he married a Parthenia ANDREWS /ANDERS HOUSE HOLEMAN---her last husband--married in Aug. 1876, Brinkley, Monroe Co., AR--and their daughter Clara COOPER, born 1878, Brinkley, Mornoe, ARK (only child of that union) married Wm David McLAIN from Lawrence Co.. They settled in Jackson County, finally living in East Newport on Hazel Street. Wm. David was Jackson Co. judge 1914 - 1919, a landowner, sawmill owner and in partnership wiht his HOLDEN son-in-law in the McLAIN-HOLDEN Land and Lumber Co. in the early 1900s. Family info: Benson G. COOPER, born about 1813, Spartanburg Co, SC, died 1863 in Monroe County on farm 3 miles below Brinkley (according to online tree, traced back many generations, with possible English ancestors identified) Wife: Delphia LINDSEY, born about 1812, SC or GA, died 1860, Monroe Co., ARK Children: Cordelia COOPER, b 1833 (DICKERSON, FRUEN marriages) Julia E. I have information on a line that went to Texas--a brother of the Benson G. COOPER that married Dellphia---Benson G. had a brother named Dillard who did not go to ARK, but went to Texas, fought at Battle of Goliad and was a suvivor of that battle--I have found some of his descendants in the Texas Hill Country. But my main interest right now are finding the descendants of the COOPERs who went from South Carolina to Arkansas. I would very much appreciate hearing from anyone who is familiar with this family.
