I am trying to find out any info on my grandmother's sister (GLADYS MAY COOPER) born in Florence/Northampton, MA on Feb. 20, 1899. Their parents were Anna Louise (Jones) Cooper (who was born in Tennessee) and Walter Cooper (born in MA). I have a copy of the 1900 census which indicated that she was listed with her parents.. (however Anna's name listed Louise as her first name). but unfortunately cant find anything else. There were three other sisters born after Gladys. They were Esther Cooper Foisey Woodrow (born 1903) and Beatrice Louise Cooper Wellspeak (born 1900) My grandmother (Myrtle Eliza Cooper Lancto Mallette) was born in 1911 in Springfield, MA. If you think you have any further information please contact me...
Janie Russell, Here's what I have on my William Cooper: He was born in Hamilton Cty., Ohio in 1820. He was the first child of JESSE COOPER (1783 - 1848/49) and DORCAS. He lived with his parents in Columbia Twp. until sometime in the 1830s when the family moved to neighboring Clermont County. In 1844, he married LUCINDA HARRIS of Hamilton Cty. They lived in Clermont County also. In 1862, at the age of 41 he enlisted in the 79th. Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He left his wife, children and probably his crops to fight in the civil war. He must have been home at some time because the next to last of his children, DORA JANE was born in 1864. My great grandmother, FLORA BELLE COOPER was born in 1866. His other children were: JESSE COOPER b. 1845, m. Lyda Dumford and also had a 2nd wife. SARAH COOPER b. Jan. 13, 1847 d. 1868 HENRY COOPER b. Dec. 20, 1849 m. Lizzie Border 1881 LAURA COOPER b. Sept. 30, 1851 m. Frederick Whiting, 1868 ELIZABETH COOPER b. May 12, 1854 m. Albert Cain 1879 JOHN COOPER b. March 9, 1856 m. Hannah Davis 1884 Sometime in the 1870s Wm. and his family moved to Montgomery Cty. Ohio. He died in 1892 and is buried in Eversole Cemetary west of Dayton. Miscellaneous Cooper info: ca. 1809, a Wm. Cooper purchased the first lot in Madison or Madisonville, Ohio. This is near Cincinnati. Unfortunately, he could not keep up the payments and had to forfeit it. I wonder if he is a relative of Jesse's. 1815, Jesse Cooper is listed as the administrator of the estate of George Cooper. I think he's a relative, but I just don't know. In the early 1800s there is a family of Coopers who ran a ferry service between the Ohio and Kentucky banks of the Ohio River. There is a revolutionary war soldier, Spencer Cooper who is buried in Spring Grove Cemetary in Cinci. I know there is at least 1 Wm. Cooper in his line, but they are not related to my Coopers. This is probably more than you ever wanted to know, but I hope it helps. Do you know where in Ohio your William is buried? Is it possible that my Jesse and your William are brothers? The dates seem to be right. Sharon
Dutchess and Cortland Co., NY Charles Cooper Maried Lucinda Popple 1813-1881 1839 1820-1904 Oliver Lewis Cooper married Carrie Blanchard 1846-1933 1871 1848-1933 Theron Ray Cooper married Clara Eva Currie 1890-1969 1911 1893-1974 Really want to find Charles's parents. I have hit a very big brick wall Thankyou Glee
Sharon Schwartz, I have been reading your William Cooper emails with interest. I am stuck with the father of Lycurgus Cooper, born 1809 in PA. Lycurgus was married to Martha Cooper, supposedly cousins. Lycurgus father was William Cooper, birthdate unknown, married to Mary Polly, marriage date unknown. Lycurgus lists birthplace of William as New Jersey, and on 2nd marriage certificate, his mothers maiden name as Boon. Lycurgus also has a brother named William. We have the will of William Senior, but no help on additional information. William is buried in Ohio. Can you tell me the name of William's 7 children and any other information you may have on your William. Thank you, Janie Russell Oklahoma
HI Gerre Here is my mystery Joshua Cooper. Joshua M. (possibly Marsden)Cooper married a Mary Smith. They in turn has a daughter in Staten Island NY in 1846 by the name of Hester C. who married a Henry A. D. Freeman in Manhatten in 1867. As of yet I have been unable to find Joshua and Mary in any census. This is from the marriage records to be found for Manhattan NY in LDS family search. Joshua would be my 5th grt grandfather. HI Barbara It is recent. Ron Cooper in the Iraqi desert. Jeannie :) In a message dated 9/14/2004 9:56:13 AM Pacific Standard Time, [email protected] writes: Who is this Ron Cooper? Isn't this list large enough for even one of you to be related to Joshua COOPER. I have emailed a good deal of information about him. One kind soul wondered if perhaps her Wm. was one of his sons. I don't know. Do you? I am on a list where a small percentage of those keep it going. The rest of them sit back and wait 'til someone finds their family. I hope the COOPER list isn't this way. I will be happy to share what little I know; but someone out there must know Anna Maria and Sarah COOPER. Sarah married Edward HUDSON; Anna Maria married William ENGARDE. The sisters were born in IN abt 1825, and 1828. Are you familiar with these two girls who were daughters of Daniel COOPER, son of Joshua? Do you happen to have them in your database? If you can answer either of these questions "yes", please email the list. Perhaps someone else is looking for this line. Gerre Engard Byrd

I received the following e-mail from a friend in Douglas County Nevada about property being sold that includes a historical cemetery that is listed as one of Nevada's eleven most endangered cemeteries. There are phone numbers to call if you can help or pass this on to someone that can. Jeri Cooper Michigan Date: Fri, 10 Sep 2004 02:46:24 -0700 (PDT) From: Marg Subject: Native American Cemetery To: [email protected] My uncle is planning on making a move to subdivide property which includes this graveyard ... Hi All In Douglas County near the Ruhenstroth subdivision area, east side of Hwy 395, approx. 5 miles south of Gardnerville is the oldest known Native American cemetery in that area. On Tuesday, Sept 14th, 1pm, a planned development of 120 acres to contain 84 single family parcels will be presented to the Douglas County Planning Commission for approval. The cemetery either flanks, or is part of the acreage for the planned development. The exact location of the cemetery is not generally known except to the older, still living residents. Because of the cemetery's historical significance, and Preserve Nevada listing cemeteries on its Eleven Most Endangered, it behooves us to do what we can to save it and/or see that access to the site is preserved. It is important for me to remove myself from this issue, however. I am asking you to consider implementing measures such as bringing the information forward during public comment, talking to or leaving phone messages for the commissioners before the meeting (see, Douglas County Nevada, Sept. 14th Planning Commission meeting on the web) and/or contacting the Washoe Tribe (775-265-2629, 775-265-4191, 775-883-1446 or in Carson at 775-885-2080). I'm not sure which phone number would reach their governing body, I suspect the 265-2629 to be. Bringing the information forward during public comment will establish commissioner fiduciary responsibility to research before proceeding forward. Perhaps too, discuss with or inform the remainder of the PN Board. My stepping aside is because this is my brother's land. Unfortunately, both my sister and I were not included in Settelmeyer Ranches, Inc., this sizable estate was all given to/taken by my brother ten years ago. To this day, I suspect forever, it will remain a very touchy issue for me. Thank you for handling this item. Honor --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? Thanks for the reply. I can't figure out if the northern KY and IN Coopers of early 1800's are connected. It surely is possible. Some of mine went on to Missouri, I know. We'll keep trying. What is the time frame for these Coopers? i am looking for the parentage of Nathaniel P. Cooper b abt 1806 in NY (don't know where). He married Sophia Lucinda Cowles, b 1819 in Pultneyville, Wayne Co., NY. What is the name of the book? Carroll Cooper Summers Anyone on this list researching the Coopers who lived on the Beekman Pantent? I have a copy of the Cooper part of the book but he does not carry the lines far enough down to include the ones that I am looking for. I see hints that they are related to the ones he is talking about in the book but need someone who has done more research on them. It appears that they descend out of Lewis Cooper but the aurthor shows very lttle about him and so I am stumped as to what to do now. Looking for parents of Charles Cooper who married Lucinda Popple. He has a son Oliver Lewis. His first son is named Theron. Anyone know where this unusal name came from? Thanks to anyone who can help? Glee
