Pauline: The COOPER Surname DNA Project Website is located at: http://www2.arkansas.net/~bcooper2k/ At the link called "Family Trees.htm", there are many family groups information that has been shared by the participants. However, all have not been willing to submit their information as yet. There are now over 50 divergent lines of COOPER identified genetically. Within these lines there are many who have anywhere from 2 to 10 genetically matched cousins identified. There are also many who are waiting on a participant to join someday that will match them. Please encourage your cousin to become a member. When he is ready, the link to join automatically is: http://www.familytreedna.com/surname_join.asp?code=K53200 Regards, Gary W. Cooper
You should be able to find out on the Cooper DNA Surname Project: http://www2.arkansas.net/~bcooper2k/ Anita -----Original Message----- From: Pauline Harper [mailto:[email protected]] Sent: Friday, March 11, 2005 8:05 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Cooper DNA testing Hi, I am inquiring again about the DNA testing that has been done on the Cooper surname. Again, because my cousin declined previously to participate, but I am going to approach him again, and I am wondering what, if any lines have been tested and proved. I am in particular interested in both the Dutch Kuper and the Coopers of Southampton, and Timothy Cooper of New England??? Any participants from any of those lines??? For all you Coopers who have done a DNA test. PLEASE post who your ANCESTOR is for those of us who have FEMALE ancestors. It DOES NOT help those of us who have women ancestors connect back to your line. I have been on this list for a while and I have not seen anyone state they did a DNA test and who their ancestor was. If you state I have their are new people joining this group daily and if you have not posted it PLEAS DO. I would like to ask that you post the persons name in the SUBJECT LINE: and that person name with DNA test DONE. So that no one deletes the information and will read it. So please help me and others who have COOPER lines that start with a FEMALE ancestor. We would like to know if you have our ANCESTOR, too. I do have a MALE but the Richmond book could have the information wrong and I would never know. Unless the COOPER who tested in my line has the same names I do and that will give me a place to start. Or I find another COOPER women to do a DNA test with because mothers and daughters have the same DNA make up. This came from a DNA lab. My Ancestor is Margaret "Peggy" COOPER born 10 Feb 1798 in Monmouth Co, NJ she married in 1816 Adams Co, Ohio Jacob BOONE. I have her father as William COOPER from Monmouth County, NJ. If this is your line please let me know. I found online that William COOPER's father was Thomas COOPER but I have no proof of this. William COOPER and Elizabeth Richmond. This marriage is mentioned in Richmond book First Native American Richmonds: [by Native Americans]. States that William Cooper was the son of Thomas COOPER and Margaret COOPER maiden name unknown. I have not seen this book the information was given to me by another family member. So if you connect back to Thomas COOPER probably from NJ. So if you connect to any of these names and others please post often so others who join this group can have the benefit of the DNA test you did and it will help us a lot. Thank you for reading this post. Joy Durrett Ancestor Margaret "Peggy" COOPER and Jacob BOONE Thanks Joy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gary W. Gary... I've been to the DNA site several times. Despite the fact that my cousin did the DNA testing, I cannot figure out the lineages. Is there a link I am missing that states the different lineages? I think that would be very useful. Lois in Auburn, CA

James Cooper b abt 1866 in Ernesettle,Devon that's a mouthull married 1890 in Stoke Damerel,Devon too Mary Jane Hendra Truro, born 1865 in Flushing Cornwall. On the 1891 census we find there son living with Joseph P Truro, and Grace[nee Davies] Truro.in Flushing Cornwall. There is some confusing as whether he is James Joseph or Joseph James.Cornish tradition say's James Joseph We can also find James Cooper on the 1901 census for East Stonehouse,Devon.a Cabinet Maker by trade, Truro is a very rare surname and Mary's line is dubiosly of Dark Skin. The proginater of her line is Peter Truro alledged to be an Abducted Bengal India Prince.I will repeat this is a rare surname. The family operated the Seven Stars or Seven Story Inn in Flushing for many years it was a family business. keep on-keeping on-never quit. I have a Samuel Cooper who was in the 1847 train to Oregon. He was the son of Thomas and Abigail Cooper. Thomas was born in Virginia, went to Illinois and possibly to Kansas - some of his descendants did, like my dad, and then to Oregon.
