I am hoping someone can help me locate any information on a Lee Allen Cooper Sr. He may not go by the Sr. I am trying to trace the family tree for my daughter, who would be Lee Allen Cooper Sr's granddaughter. My daughter's father of course was Lee Allen Cooper Jr. Jr. never knew his father. His parents were divorced when he was about 1 years old and Sr. disappeared. Jr. is now deceased. I tried recently to acquire information on Sr. through my ex-mother-in-law, but due to her elderly age she does not remember much and what she does remember I am unsure about. She said that Lee Allen Cooper Sr. was born May 6 1926-27 in Kirkwood. Missouri. I have Lee Jr.'s birth certificate and he was born in August 1947. It does say that Lee Sr. was 21 at the time. So it appears she maybe correct on Sr.'s birth year. She says she does not remember the marriage date. This is all I have. I am hoping someone may provide a lead. I cannot seem to get a birth certificate out of Kirkwood, Mo. Requesting birth certificates is difficult for all of us. Perhaps if you posted additional info on him (spouse, other children, other locations, etc) someone might be able to make a connection with you. Lois in Auburn, CA, USA
No, I haven't had any luck with this. My William Bailey was called "Uncle Bailey" in his old age. I had another name mystery in another branch of my family and found out he was named for a military figure. I believe I've seen a Bailey who was a known military figure and have thought this could be a possiblity. It's always possible that your John, Enoch's father, could be of my William Bailey. There was also an Enoch Cooper in early Mason Co., KY along the Ohio River. Have you determined if your Enoch was also born in N. Carolina? Is it possible that your John came to Mason Co., KY at some point with another Enoch? There was also a Jesse and a Vincent, among other Coopers in early settlement of Maysville, KY area. One of these days we'll crack this mystery. My uncle did dna before he died and we traced to a John Jackson Cooper and others back through what is now W.VA to Stafford Co, VA. Barbara, I notice you have at least two Coopers with the middle name Bailey. We have one - Enoch Bailey Cooper. Enoch's father, John Cooper, was born in North Carolina, 1810. The entire family went to Indiana about 1830. Enoch Bailey Cooper was born in Indiana in 1847. Of course, I'm wondering if there might possibly be a connection. Do you have any idea where the Bailey name came from in your Coopers? I've tried to connect it in mine, but no luck. HELP GET ALABAMA GENEALOGY RECORDS ONLINE !!! Please consider completing this survey. It takes about five minutes. The """FIRST""" survey option is for individuals and the second survey option is for repositories. >From the pit of the "Peach State" James Lee Weaver wi4r@comcast.net http://home.comcast.net/~wi4r/ The Alabama Historical Records Advisory Board (HRB) is asking for assistance in developing a plan that outlines Alabama's priorities for historical records preservation. To this end, they are asking individuals and records repositories to complete a survey that will help them identify these priorities. The survey takes under 5 minutes and you get a preview of the results so far at the end. The survey will be able until July 31, 2007. The number of participants in the survey thus far is in the low 30's as of this posting. Please help the HRB identify statewide historical records preservation needs.
