Conrad, WHO are the COOPER's that you are researching in Michigan ? Thanks, Jill in SoCal
I am attempting to connect my ancestor Philip Cooper of New York and Ontario, with Asa Cooper born 1793 in Allegany NY; and Andrew Cooper born 1804 in New York. An Andrew descendant has confirmed that they are not brothers. Perhaps they are cousins. I am sure of a connection because of my great grandfather's journal writings. If anyone has any information on these individuals, their collateral relatives, and descendants, please email me. I have several other Cooper names of NY, Ontario, and Michigan that I am researching. Thank you. Conrad Dennis
I have a quite large family of COOPERs in Hendricks county, IN in 1850. Any idea what county your Coopers are in? I will help if I can. I also have a totally separate Cooper line in Putnam county, IN. They are a little more elusive. Rosann
Can someone tell me how old an orphan would have to be before he was not considered an orphan? I am search for information on an orphan Benjamin Cooper who was in the custody of Joseph Cooper in 1693. Joseph Cooper, was ordered to bring his orphan (Benjamin) to Orphans Court.... Could one find documentation in this court today ? Thanks, GAry
This might be along shot, but does anyone know of a John Cooper b. 1700 to 1800, that would have a granddaughter named Jerusha? Nicholas b.Warrior, Al?? maybe around 1825, her parents Jacob Nicholas b.1797? TN. & Mary ?. You can tell I am new to genealogy. thanks, pat
Looking in Everton's Handy Book for Genealogists - Martin County created in 1774 from Halifax and Tyrell Counties. Halifax created in 1758. Bertie is right there next to them.
Hi Chris, My O'Dells aren't connected to my Coopers, but are from Michigan! I only have 1 O'Dell so are and her name is Jemima O'Dell. She married Jesse Hall. Their daughter Arvilla is my gg grandmother. Jemima was born in NY around 1790 as was Jesse. They moved to Michigan where my gg grandmother and her siblings were born. The part of Michigan they lived in was Ingham Co. I have the 1850 and 1870 Ingham Co. Michigan census and would be happy to look up names for you. Hope this helps! Thanks, Ruffin. This looks close enough to hang some hope on. Cader was in Bertie and Halifax. And if you look on an atlas, notice the Roanoke River running through the middle, as in reference to John, the young 9 yr. old son of Cader who "drowned up Ronoke" in 1796. Cader showed up on the 1810 census for Beaufort Co., NC, 1800 in Bertie. He is reported to have died 18 January 1813, "about one o'clock in the morning". But this would also indicate William did not follow the rest of the family in the west/southern migration. Perhaps he "kept the home place"?? Well, just thinking out load now(or in print??< 8~D)but would appreciate any further comments or input. Do you have anything on marriage or children? I have only the following information on William, but he is in Martin County, not too far away. 1840 U.S. Census for William Cooper, Age 30-40, District No. 6, Martin County North Carolina, (Pub. M704, Roll 365, Page 367). 1860 U.S. Census (Taken on July 11, 1860 by D.B Harrison) William Cooper, Williamston, Martin County North Carolina, (Pub. M653, Roll 905, Page 785, Line 10). Hope that this helps someone. Ruffin Cooper > I have a William ? Cooper born abt 1809 or 1819 - unsure of location - may be > Pasquotank County. Hi everyone! Just received a death certificate for Edward Cooper - my g grandfather. It shows he was born in Ohio instead of Indiana and lists his parents as Ed. Cooper born in VA and Mary Walters born in Ohio. It shows his date of birth as 7-12-1870 and he died in Ohio on 11-11-1932. Any ideas? Thanks, Christy Searching: Harkness, Archer, Woodland, McDermott, Fox, Dunn, Hall, O'Dell, Cooper, Becker, Vrooman, Wright, Bulivard/Bulivand/Bulivant, Philo/Fillow
Dave, Do you have where he married, or do you know of, or suspect, any siblings? Where did he go after NC? William C. had half siblings by Cader's first wife Anney Critchi/e/t: Fanny(Frances) is the only one I have any marriage info on. She married Joseph COFFEY 25 Nov. 1794, but I don't know where. That would put her age 25. Other siblings were Salley b. 1775; Polley b. 1778; Kedar b. 1780; Hillery b. 1782 d. 1807; Eliza b. 1785; John b. 1787 d. 1796 "drowned up Ronoke"(not sure if that refers to "up" the River in NC, or near the town in VA?-probably the former by this date.)David b. 1790; and Anney b. 1793. There is a Cader listed as a land owner in Pasquotank, would need to check on the years(s) to be sure, but before 1820, I think. I think it's a toss-up as to whether there are more William's, David's or John's. And they sure got around, didn't they?! :) Let me know if you think there is any possibility, or if you would like more info(wouldn't we all!---that I have I mean<G>) Nancy Cooper in Corpus Christi DaveHouse@aol.com wrote: > > I have a William ? I have a William ? Cooper born abt 1809 or 1819 - unsure of location - may be Pasquotank County. He married Mary Polly Jennings (Weymouth - Widowed Surname) but have no other great information. Would like to find ANYONE with possible information. Thanks David House
Im looking for inforamtion on a Jack Cooper that married Cleo Lyda Brannon born August 15, 1911 in Welling,Oklahoma could anyone please add to this? Sue MUSOLF,POGATSCHNICK,FROATS,JARNAGAN,ANTRIM,SKELTON,SHACKELFORD ICQ NUMBER IS 12878029
Gary, Can't say for sure-was hoping someone could tell me. But there is a good possibility, because this was the youngest son of "Cader the Elder" by his second wife Nancy JERNIGAN. Elizabeth, third daughter of Cader, "The Younger",(whose brother Zachariah was b. in SC 1783)and his wife Sarah BYARS, is named as the wife of Haskel OWENS in Cader2's estate settlement. This family and some descendants followed a south>west migration pattern, AL in the 1840s, then TX after the War, so...??? What further can you tell me about your William and the OWENS? (Do you see any link to a John C?) Thanks in advance, Nancy B. Cooper in Corpus Christi gcozzens wrote: > > Do either of these Williams connect with a William who was born in SC > about 1835. Gary, I have no connection to your William. I need one born 1810 or before. George
Do either of these Williams connect with a William who was born in SC about 1835. He married a Louisa (Owens?) and moved to Missouri by 1860 and then to Arkansas by 1870? Thanks. Gary
TIA, I can neither claim or identify William C Cooper. I'm looking for a William who showed up in Pope Co IL and married Polly Towns in 1833. They were there in 1840 ad then after his death his wife and son William Henry went to TX. I have them from there. Nothing up to 1833. The date could match, I don't really know. If you could get him to Maury Co TN and then to IL, I can take him from there. Or even straight to IL. George
Barbara, elusive is right. I think the William I'm looking for was in a witness protection program. The only slight clue I have is that his mother in law's father was from Maury Co TN. I have not been able to track William there yet. I don't have a birthdate, just a marriage date which is recorded in Pope Co IL. Forsyth was the surname of his mother in law. Thanks for your response. George
