    2. My John Cooper was married to an Elizabeth "Betsey" Meyers. I know they had at least 1 child Eli born 1804. I believed at some point they lived in Mason County, KY. John's father was either Samuel or Duvalt/Duvall Cooper. John was supposedly killed during a political debate in the early 1800s. I believe these Cooper's immigrated from Germany to PA & then to KY. Any connection? Teresa

    3. Do you have any information on the children of John Cooper? I'm looking for parents of a John (Jonathan) David Cooper and William Franklin Cooper who lived in Springfield, MO. This John Cooper was born in 1847, but I have no idea where the family came from before coming to Missouri. The name is so common.... as well as there being so many with the name "John". This John Cooper also named one of his sons "John". It show that William and Mary could not read or write and that Joseph was the only child attending school. 1870 CENSUS RECORD OF PASQUOTANK COUNTY - PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP - DATED AUGUST 17, 1870 Polly Cooper - 60 F W - Keeping Home Mary Cooper - 29 F W - At Home Lucy E. Listed below you can see can the somewhat close location of Margaret, Joseph, Lucy and Sarah. The sequential numbers in the census (39, 59,101,120, 121, 122) makes one believe that the family often stayed close together and care for each other. 1880 CENSUS RECORD OF PASQUOTANK COUNTY - PROVIDENCE TOWNSHIP - JUNE 12, 1880 - Page 4 (39) - Enumeration Visit Number On The Census Robert N. Prior to this, they were in Marshall County, KY and White County, AR. Jed's parents were John Cooper and Elizabeth Coggin. Most of the other children of this family settled in AR. I would hope that perhaps some of Jed's descendants could help us with information on his father, John Cooper.

    3. I have seen a Frederick Keffer age 49 (b.1683), Leonard age 27(b. 1705), Jacob age abt. 27 (b. 1705), Maria age 46 (b. 1686), Maria age 25 (b. 1705), Maria age 23 (b. 1707), Elisabeth age 18 (b. 1714), Jacob age 8 (b. 1724), and Lena age 4 (b. 1728) who came over on the ship the Samuel in 1732. I believe this family may have lived in Frederick co. VA at one time. It seems that some of these Frederick co VA Coopers went to Hampshire co. VA. I recently read the book "Canaan Valley and the Black Bear" by Ruth Cooper Allman. It is about the Henry Jackson Cooper and his wife Mary Margaret Rudolph Cooper family. They left Winchester Va in Frederick co. to settle in Canaan Valley WVA in 1882. They knew people along the way as several families are mentioned. They are related to a Brill family that lived on the Capon River. The book talks about living in this land and it speaks of their family. Apparently they gave and sold land to the government and that land is now Cooper's Rock State Forest in WV. So far there is no connection to these Coopers and my Coopers, even though they lived in the same area. My oldest known Cooper was Valentine Cooper b. abt. 1745 who married Mary ?.He resided in Hardy co. Va (Hardy was onces part of Hampshire co) and his will was proven there in 1835. Some of the same family names are repeated in both of these Cooper families. Does anyone know if Leonard or Jacob (the ones who came over on the ship the Samuel in 1732 and were in their mid 20's at the time) may have had a son named Valentine or perhaps George? I believe these Cooper families are related but it just hasn't been proven. Thanks.
