I have been trying for years to find information on my great-grandfather, but because of almost every Cooper family having the same names, I can't get past him. I am looking for information on Jonathan David Cooper (he went by John D. Cooper) B: June 7, 1847 - Supposedly Jerseyville, Illinois He had a brother William Franklin Cooper B: July 1, 1852 - Bowling Green, Missouri Their father's name is listed on their death certificates as "Cap" Cooper. This family ended up in Willard (Springfield), Greene County, Missouri. They were apparently making their way from another state through Illinois and on into Missouri. Since almost everyone has a "John" and a "William", I'm hoping the name "Cap" might mean something to someone. There could probably be other children, as most families had more than two. Thanks for any responses or suggestions you may have. Marty (Cooper) B.
Hi, I'm new to the list. I'm looking for my COOPERs who came to Brooklyn, Kings County, New York City about 1830 (from England) when Mark COOPER was about 1 year old. So far I have found my GGGrandfather, Mark on page 391, 2nd Ward, Brooklyn, 2 District in 1860. In 1868 he and his wife Mary Ann DANIELS and their children moved to Gloversville, Fulton County, NY. Mark died there in 1877. In 1860 Mark was a paper carrier. In Gloversville he may have worked at a newsstand and later owned a store there which sold newspapers. Mark and Mary Ann's children are Sarah born in 1840, William born in 1843, Jessie (female) born in 1846, Mark born in 1850, William born in 1852, Martha J.(my Great Grandmother) born in 1858, Jessie C. (female) born in 1863, George B. born in 1865, and John T. born in 1866. Does anyone out there have any connection to this family? I am willing to exchange information. Thanks, Bette Hill Burke, VA
