    1. Re: [COOPER] Info needed Marvin Cooper, Atlantic City, NJ
    2. Anna; Give every piece of information you have. For instance where your father was born, the town, Co., State. His mothers name was Mary Cooper b.? (give her full birth date) and her parents names and dates of Birth. I don't know about foster care records. Many adoption records are sealed. You may want to contact people working with adoption, foster care in the area and ask who to see. If she told no one, and it isn't on the Birth Certificate you have a tough brick wall. Year Book from high school? Who were her friends, did she have brothers and sisters, maybe she told one of them. 1. [COOPER] Info needed Marvin Cooper, Atlantic City, NJ
    2. Anna's Genealogy
    3. Hi, I have a brick wall and I welcome any suggestions on how to find info, if it exists. My father's name is Marvin Cooper, born 4 March 1942, mother Mary Cooper (Parish), father unknown. I would love suggestions on how to find his father. He says his mother didn't tell him, nor her husband who the father was. Mary's mother made her put my father in foster care. His foster parents are Benjamin and Lois Harris. He said until he started to go to school, he was known as Jerry Harris. When he went to school he was officially known as Marvin Thomas Cooper. He says his father's name isn't on his birth certificate. Any suggestions on how to find out who his father was, or is that information just lost because she never told anyone that we know of. Thanks for any help anyone can give me. Anna Adams

    2. Ben Yes, this is my ex-mother-in-law and her siblings and parents. She never mentioned Independence City and living there. It was always St. Louis. Does it say Independence City somewhere on this census. I guess I am not smart enough to find it. It also shows her father to be a printer instead of a minister. I know he was a minister, must have come later. On Lee Jr. birth certificate in 1947 it says his father Lee Sr. worked as a painter for a sing company. Doubt printer and sign painter were connected? 3. Well, Terrie, I did not look for that on the census page, it was written in the ledger above the census page. It is possible the "painter for a sing company" should have read "painter for a sign company" which means he was probably an artist of some sorts. 2. Ben; Yes, Bakersfield is my husband's home town, not mine. But we have been here since 1991. It is hotter than blue blazes in the summer and nice in the winter. My ex mother-in-law is unable to furnish much of anything and a terrible memory to boot! Her name is Josephine Leona (Hampton) Cooper. No longer Cooper, now Matthews. She does not seem to know anything about Lee Sr. family at all. She even said that she never met his parents, just one sister. Interesting! Then when they divorced she did not see any of them ever again, including Lee Sr. The only document I received from her was Lee Jr.'s birth certificate. Since Lee Sr. was 21 at Lee Jr.'s birth and they only stayed married another year, I am sure he went on to marry down the line and may have even had more children. Just do not have that information. Thanks again for everything, Terrie Cooper-Piper ************************************** Get a sneak peek of the all-new AOL at http://discover.aol.com/memed/aolcom30tour

    3. Bakersville, you say. I have been there; its been half a century though. My Aunt Edna died there in the late 1950s...that is giving away my age. What is your ex mother-in-law's name [too include her maiden name]. That may give me a start in researching Lee. Does she have any old papers, scrapebooks, school annuals, photos or the like laying around in her attic or basement that may reveal anything? Just a thought. 3. Nothing confusing about that response. I checked the 1930 US Census in Kirkwood, St. Louis Co., MO., for any Coopers and found a few but no Lee Allen Cooper. If you are sure he was born in Kirkwood you might call the local historical or genealogical society and see if you can find a newspaper entry on his birth. Another check would be to locate a birth certificate in St. Louis Co. or the state of MO. If you haven't already you might contact the library in Kirkwood at 314-821-5770 and ask them about getting access to newspaper articles births and deaths on or around May 6, 1926 or 1927. They could probably give you info on a local historical or genealogical society You can also contact vital records in MO for a copy of Lee Allen Sr.'s birth certificate. You can order on-line from St. Louis County Vital Records at: http://vitalrec.com/mocounties4.html#St.%20Louis Hope one of these help. Email me at any time. Ben PS. If you do find a birth certificate and would like for me to research ancestry.com for his parents, please contact me. ----- Original Message ----- From: <Cooppip@aol.com> To: <cooper@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, July 26, 2007 7:10 PM Subject: Re: [COOPER] Lee Allen Cooper Ben I am not a Cooper in blood, my ex was Lee Allen Cooper Jr. It is my daughter and grandson who is the Cooper bloodline.
