Conrad, Just checking. I read your posting with interest. What caught my eye was the NY, Canada, Michigan posting. My James Cooper and wife Susannah, with their five children, left Essex, England in 1858. They had a child in Canada in 1859 and another in Michigan in 1860. Just curious, what dates do you have on your Coopers and where in Michigan did they settle. Mine setteled in the Big Rapids, Grand Rapids area of Kent and Mecosota counties. Looking foreward to hear from you. Jeri Cooper DeVries Grand Rapids, Michigan

Then there are times when rootsweb doesn't forward all the mail, as has been the case on a couple of other lists i belong to. You have not been deleted- just be patient and the list will begin posting again. Just FYI- i am searching for Coopers in eastern KY, in particular a Micajah AKA Cagy Cooper. Take care and good luck in your research! Donna in MT
I am looking for: John Cooper b.TN or KY that married a ? , Nicholas. (maybe 1765 to 1780) I know this is a long shot, but if any body has any info it would be great. THANKS.
I've had this nagging thought in the back of my mind since reading Lampham's book about the Cooper History. It seems to me that my grandfather once told me that the Coopers of our line were Scottish. Discounting Lampham's "French Connection" does anyone have any Scottish possibles as ancestors of the William Cooper Sr line ? Conrad
I've located another name in my great grandfathers address book. He lists: Sul Dean 360 Moy Street Windsor Ont Phone Burnside 1388 I would suggest that this is Sullivan Dean, son of Enos Dean and Diana Cooper (d/o Solomon Cooper). Conrad
Conrad, As I interpretted Lampman's "A Brief History...", she speculated that William Cooper (Coupart) of France MIGHT be related to her line. Seems to read as though there was some uncertainty. Hi Russ, I have a Stephen V. Cooper born in Monmouth, NJ in Dec. 24, 1842. He was supposed to be Dutch. I would be very interested in what you may have on these Coopers. Referring to your letter to Conrad. [COOPER-L] Coopers NY to Ontario. Thanks, Shirley
Hi Conrad, Your copy of Annie Lampman's History of Cooper family for Coopers to Ontario suggests this family came from either NY or NJ. Can you identify the earliest Cooper, please. We have a list of 13 Scotch-Irish Coopers immigrants who were in the Hudson River Valley in addition to some other Coopers early in Monmouth Co., NJ. Would it be helpful to post the list? Also we have some Dutch and English Coopers of NY. Russ Cooper [216-397-1195] 2755 Derbyshire Road, Cleveland, OH 44106-3340
On page 15 of the Lampham Cooper History, she states that "Mrs. Della Cooper resides at 229 Gladstone Ave., Windsor, Ont." This is confirmed by an entry in my great-grandfathers address book: Mrs. W.W. Cooper 229 Gladstone St. Windsor, Ontario Conrad Dennis
I am seeking info on my ancestor Adam B. COOPER, Sr b ca 1760's in Philadelphia, PA and also on his parents Peter COOPER and Margaret/Margaretta FREY/FRY who married in Philadelphia ca 1760 or before. Peter and Margaret had a son Francis b 1761 who was christened at Christ Church in Philadelphia. Adam had a brother Peter, a sister Elizabeth who married John STONE, and a sister Eve who married Jacob STONE, probably in Fairfield Co, SC. After Peter COOPER died, Margaret remarried to Andrew FEASTER/PFISTER also in Philadelphia in 1767, and they moved to Fairfield Co, SC where Adam COOPER and Andrew FEASTER, Sr. were members of the Dunkard Faith...German Baptists known as the Brethren...and both Adam and Andrew had long white beards. Margaret was born in 1739 in Philadelphia, died in Fairfield Co, SC 10 Oct 1824, and is buried in the FEASTER-COLEMAN Cemetery, Feasterville, SC. Margaret and Andrew had (at least): John, Jacob, Margaret, Martha, Susannah, Elice, and Andrew. Their son John named a daughter Savilla; this name also carried through Peter COOPER's line. Some associated spouse-of-children surnames from the FEASTER kids are: Martha m Wm. COLVIN in 1783, John m Drucilla MOBERLEY in 1789, and Andrew m Ms. WOOLEY. ********************************* Rockett's theory of relativity: If you go back far enough, we're all related. Conrad, Would this be a family with Ashley Coopers, or Alexander Summers Cooper? I have been trying to figure out what state they came from before living in Ontario. Ruth Whitehead "Conrad V. I have obtained a copy of Annie Lampman's History of the Cooper family and have been able to clear up quite a few of the discrepancies that have been passed down by my family. I'd like to thank Steve Cooper, Loretta Baughan, Jodi, Carol Pine, Peggy Cooper, Phil Cooper and many others who have "put up with" my incessant questions about my Coopers. I imagine it will take me quite a few days to add this information to my own files and begin the process of finding out dates, places etc., that Ms. Lampman left out. Again, thanks to all. I'm sure I'll be posting more questions soon. Regards: Conrad Dennis
