I am searching for the ancestors of William D. Cooper, born in South Carolina circa 1802. His wife Martha was born circa 1815 in Georgia. They lived in Marion County, MS in 1850. Their children were Elizabeth, William H, Benjamin, Laura, Andrew Taylor, Mary, Victoria, Medora and George. William D's father is believed to be John. Any help on this line would be greatly appreciated! Linda Taylor e-mail: Mark_Taylor@Baylor.edu

I, too, have Marvin in my Cooper files. I'm married to one, and he is the third generation to have that name. His father (born TN 1912) and grandfather (born VA 1885) were also named Marvin. Granddad Cooper was named Marvin to honor Methodist Bishop Enoch Mather Marvin (born MO), who had served as a Confederate Civil War chaplain before being elected a bishop. Darlene, I am also looking for Wayne County Coopers. Mine is Stephen, born about 1797 in either North or South Carolina. One census says on thing, another says the other. I'm very sure that Samuel and Stephen are closely related. Maybe brothers. Perhaps first cousins. As a matter of fact, they were jointly sued by the State of Tennesssee. Some of Stephen's kids went into Lauderdale County, Alabama. Then to Indian Territory. Have any knowledge of the relationship between them? Barbara
