I have access to this book in my library. There are very few sources which can be verified and Fleet Sr. being the son of Benjamin Cooper and Elizabeth Kelly is one of them. If Fleet was not the son of this couple then, needless to say, the entire line from there back is in error. See John Croom's Web Sit at: http://members.aol.com/crooiii/croopag7.htm Go to Cooper. The informatiuon in this book which says that Fleet Cooper Sr, is the son of Benjamin Cooper and Elizabeth Kelly of Philadelphia has no basis in fact. There was a Benjamin Cooper that m. an Elizabeth Kelly in Philadelphia but there are NO records to prove that Fleet was the son of this union. Huguenot Refugees on Board Ship Mary and Ann, August 12, 1700, Virginia, James City were Francoise Coupet and Pierre Cupper. Does anyone have any infomation on these two individuals? In Stafford County, I find record of a Mary Copher, widow of Francis Copher; 13 Nov. 1727-15 June 1728; 328 a. on brs of Pohick; Copher deceased since warrent issued, now Mary Copher, his widow surveys same for Francis, infant son of said Francis; adj. I am trying to find proof that the Francis in 1700 and the other Francis in 1727 are linked. It is my belief that the infant son of the above Francis is my ggggggf. Ruby, In the Murphy Rowe Cooper book, does she cite a source or sources for the information in the first two chapters? I would appreciate knowing what the sources are. I am not familiar with this book. I have been trying to establish the link between James Cooper, b 1661 Eng., d 1732 Philadelphia, PA and ancestors in England. Some sources state that his parents were George Ashley Cooper and Elizabeth (Oldfield) Cooper but I have not located anything to confirm this. According to John Hutchins, George and Elizabeth Cooper were the parents of (1)George Cooper, d 1727, (2)Elizabeth Ann Cooper who married Sir William Hanham and (3---)"several more children" names unknown. I shall appreciate any information you can provide. Thank you. Good Evening, Thank you for your reply. I am not researching Moses and James at this time. It was just something I came across in "The Pollison Family" as being among the early settlers in Morris Co., N. J. It stated that the lands bordered the Sussex line and was called the Holland Mountain,. That the Pollison were from early Holland Dutch familites and were closely connected by intermarriages to the Monrsons. Descending down through the Mowersons there was an Abraham (twin who was born in Sept. of 1824 and he married Julia Stockm an. One of Abraham's sisters was Emeline born in July of 1828 and she married Moses Cooper. Now, this is earlier than any of my direct line records so don't know if this is my line or not. If you would like, I will copy what else is written and send on to you. In the mean time, if you ome across a Horace (S.) Cooper of Morris Co., N. J. born @ 1804, would you PLEASE let me know. I do not have any information what-so-ever on his parents nor siblings. He did marry Eunice Van Buskirk daughter of Capt. John and Elizabeth Maxwell according to the book of John Littell "First settlers of the Passaic Valley" That is all that I have on Horace S. Cooper other than his children and some of their descendants. I am willing to share what I have but it isn't much. I know that somehow we are related to the Fleet that was a famous preacher. There is a book The Cooper Family, History and Genealogy 1681-1931 by Murphy Rowe Cooper. I believe if we could tie into this book we would be lucky. Would you mind? Although I don't have much to go on. William Stephens Cooper b. abt. 1810 in North Carolina supposedly left NC to fight in the Indian Wars (I need to read up on my history for that). Afterwards went back to NC but decided to leave and ended up in GA around 1840s in Stephens, Marion & Webster Co. Married Elizabeth Bacon from Marion/Webster Co. around 1840. 1st child Jonathan b. abt. 1843. Then: Louisa, Sarah, Hardy Gilpin, Martha, William Edmund, Thomas L. & the younger, Fleet Wood, b. abt. 1859. That's all I know so far. Thank you for your offer. Gwen Brooks
