    1. [COOPER-L] Cooper marriage to Ella Dawn
    2. I am looking for a Cooper who married Ella Dawn. She was Lovinia Ella Tinsley before her first marriage. She was born in 1853 in Dalton,Ga. She married Charles H. Dawn in 1875 in Dalton,Ga. He was killed at his job on the railroad in 1879 and she married a Cooper about 1889, they had a daughter Cordie or Cordir Cooper. This Cooper probably didn't live long after his marriage to Ella because she was in the 1900 Spalding County,Ga census records and was a widow again. The I found her in the 1920 Anderson County,South Carolina Census and her son and his family were living in the house with her. Her son was Leonard E. Dawn.

    1. [COOPER-L] SSDI
    2. Christy Otis
    3. Hi Everyone, Just wanted to point out something I discovered today. My grandfather gave so many different ages on different documents, that I was really unsure when he was born. On his marriage certificate it shows him as aged 28 in 1927, my mothers birth certificate - aged 42 in 1932, his death certificate showed his date of birth as 9-3-1897 (info given by his wife, and I felt this was the most reliable unless he lied to her also!), and when I checked the SSDI (Social Security Death Index), his date of birth was given as 9-3-1886 and the date of death was the one shown on his death certificate. I sent for his Social Security card application, and received it today. While the online SSDI database shows his date of birth as 9-3-1886, his application shows 9-3-1897. So, here is my tip: If you search the SSDI for your ancestor, and something turns up, but the dates are not correct, don't pass it over! It could very well be a mistake of those who entered the information into the database in the first place. From the info on the application, I was able to determine his exact birthplace (other documents just said Indiana) and his fathers middle name (comes in handy when all you have is Edward Cooper to work with! Lots of those around!), not to mention corroboration of his birth date. Happy hunting! 1. [COOPER-L] I'm looking for any family of FRANK COOPER who is a son-in-law to Eleanor Jenkins.
    2. ndenton
    3. I'm looking for any family of FRANK COOPER who is a son-in-law to Eleanor Jenkins. Looking for any connection to ELEANOR JENKINS. One source lists her middle name as Ann, while another had her listed as Eleanor H. Jenkins. I don't know which or even if either is correct. The first I know of her is that she married Alexander Lawful Bain in New York City on 16 Sept. 1844.The marrage was at the Amity Street Baptist Church N.Y. City. I've contacted the main office that would hold these records since the church is no longer there. Could not find anything. I do not know any thing about her family but think she was born there in New York City. Alexander Lawful Bain came from Scotland to Canada and then New York City. While there Alexander and Eleanor had five of their seven daughters, before moving to Nebraska City, Neb. Think they moved from New York @1856 as another daughter was born in Lincoln Neb. in 1859. Their daughters were: Mary Jane (Jeanette?) Bain b. 1846 Kings Cty NY m. Thomas McCune Catherine Ella Bain b. 1847 Kings Cty NY m. Jonas Delp Marion MacKenzie Bain b. 1852 Kings Cty NY m. Edward Mayhew Lillian MacKenzie Bain b. 1852 Kings Cty NY m. Henry K. Mayhew Jessie E. Bain b. Kings Cty NY m. Frank COOPER Eleanor Bain b. 1859 Lincoln Neb. never married Bertha Bain b. 1861 Lincoln Neb. never married If any of this looks familiar I'd love to hear from you. I have tried to find the marriage register of Alexander and Eleanor to no avail. Need any clues on Eleanor..... Thank you. Peggy in K.C.

    2. Hi List, CS Snipes told of a MATILDA COOPER b. 1829 that was an "old maid". My COOPER has been very interesting. First I should say that I only heard her refered to as FLORENCE COOPER b.24 Oct. 1858 Miami County, Indiana. Father: JACOB Mother : ELLEN HOBAUGH. I also only heard that her husband's name was HENRY WYATT. After exhausting myself trying to find these two, a kind soul looked up a marriage for any COOPER/WYATT in Miami County, Indiana about the time my g.grandmother DORA WYATT was born and sur enough up popped SOLOMON H. WYATT and MATILDA F. COOPER married 1878 the same year my g.grandma was born. Is SOLOMON and MATILDA , HENRY and FLORENCE? Since many, including myself go by their middle names, I think so and am proceeding on that assumption. I still would like to get a marriage license to support that assumption, however!ha Thank you List for all your help,Jeanne

    3. That info appears on the marriage license application. I am not sure what years the application data began. I have some apps with that data for early 1900's for Jasper Co. IN. 1. [COOPER-L] William H. Cooper, Schoharie Co. and Orleans Co., NY (1825-1909)
    2. Ed STEUBER
    3. Hello Everyone! This is my first listing; I have been enjoying all of your messages for the past couple of months. However, I haven't yet found a connection to my COOPER line (of course, I may have missed some clues). Here's hoping you can help me: My ggg-grandfather, William H. COOPER was born in the Town of Middleburgh, Schoharie County, NY on 16 December 1825 (family Bible). Other known facts: He is in the Town of Clarendon, Orleans Co., NY per the 1850 census, and remains in Clarendon for the rest of his life. He married Malvina VanDyke on 13 April 1851 (in Clarendon, NY); they had a child, Abbie Cooper. I am stumped as to William H. COOPER's parents. In the censuses, his father is marked as being born in England--his mother in NY. In the cemetery records, his father is listed as "Henry" Cooper; however, in the 1870 census, there is a "James" Cooper, age 76 (born in England) in his household--I have assumed he is the father of William H. I am quite certain William H. Cooper had a sister, Sarah, who married a Silas Burroughs of Otsego Co., NY. Does any of this sparse information ring a bell with anyone? Thanking you in advance, Penelope Steuber, Albion, NY
