Does anyone on this list have information on the Cooper Rice Plantation on (where else?) the Cooper River near Charleston, SC? Today I received some info that says my Cooper line may be descended from the folks that owned it. Any help appreciated. Thanks. Lois in CA
Hi List-- I'm trying to uncover the place of death and burial site of James Stanley Cooper, d 28 Aug, 1901--most probably somewhere in IL. He was born 9 Aug 1834 Pulaski Co KY--son of Levi Cooper and Nancy Jones. He lived in Macoupin and Macon Co's in IL. He married 3 times--1 Margaret Little; 2 Matilda Rainey, 3 Mary Barber. Would like to hear from any other descendents. Jane Ramsey
I am looking for a William Cooper (place unknown) who could have been from KY. He shows up in Pope Co IL and married Polly Towns in 1833. They had a son in 1841 named William Henry. He came to TX along with his mother, aunt and uncle in 1853. William may have died before this. Rumor says he could have been married before with another family somewhere. We have his descendents in TX. Thanks for your time and consideration. George
Do you have a Pierson Emery Cooper in your group? Sandy Moore Colbert
I have info on some Wayne Co Coopers. Be happy to share, need more. Most of mine were descendants of "old" Samuel Cooper. Darlene
Dear Members of the COOPER Surname Mailing List, The William COOPER who was born a son of Judah Paddock COOPER and Lavinia FOWLER, 2 Jun 1821, at Suffield, Hartford County, Connecticut might have been that same William COOPER who married Martha Ann BARNEY, 6 May 1846, in Greenup County, Kentucky. In Suffield, 13 Nov 1842, William COOPER sold his share of the wood which was at the "Tar Kiln Lot". Then, in 1844, William COOPER concluded his membership at the Second Baptist Church of Suffield. Thus far, I have found no mention of William COOPER in Suffield after 1844. My third-great grandfather William COOPER first appeared in the records of Greenup County, Kentucky in 1846, on the Tax Lists. I have not located his whereabouts before 1846, except for the possibility of a match in the Suffield William COOPER. Please, if you will, peruse the list of locations and surnames at the bottom of this message, and if you care to correspond, I will be more than happy. Thank you! Randal W. Cooper COOPERs in the following locations: 1. Suffield, Hartford, Windsor and New London, Connecticut 2. Westfield, West Springfield, Springfield, Attleborough and Wrentham, Massachusetts 3. Hi listers, up to now I only read your mails to the list, but now I have a query myself. I'm searching my distant american relatives, descendends of Herbert W. Cooper. He was the son of a ? Cooper and his wife Elise, born Leo (in Halle/Germany). It is said by another relative, that he lived in the states of New York and California (or Florida?) , was a director of the Coca Cola Company and died in the fiftys. That's all I know. Is there anyone, who can give me an useful advice? It would be grately appreciated. Kind regards Ulrike Leo (Minden/Germany)

My g grandfather Jerome (or Joe) Riley Cooper, was b. Jan 1859, TX, m. Sarah Ann (Sally) Mosley 5-24-1893, Canadian, Hemphill Co., TX, at which time he was living in Old Mobeetie, TX, sometimes referred to as "Hide Town." They moved to Miami, TX in Roberts Co., and Joe Cooper served two terms as Sheriff of Robets Co. They had 4 children. The 1900 census for Roberts Co., shows Joe's occupation as "freighter" and that his parents were born in MS and AL. In or about 1902 Joe Cooper abandoned his family and disappeared. It was rumored that he went to work for a ranch somewhere in the Texas Panhandle, but the family never head from him again. Where and when was Joe Cooper born in Texas? Did he have any siblings? Who were his parents and where (in MS & AL) and when were they born? Whatever happened to old Joe Cooper?
