What strikes me with those surnames which you mention is that they are all fairly well known old New Jersey names. I was born on Staten Island which is closer to New Jersey than it is to New York and a lot of people came from NJ, including many of my own family. My gggrandfather, James Morgan Cooper was born in Trenton, New Jersey in 1799. He was a gunner in the Navy. His father was from Haddonfield, NJ. I am a long way from my records at the moment but I think that is in Camden or Salem County. The Mickels also come from that area and the Freemans are also from NJ. Like I wrote, I am a long way from my records which are in my home in the UK and I am working in Australia for a few months. I did try and find information on your line from my access to various sources on the internet. Have you found anything in your research which would suggest that Joshua Cooper had a New Jersey connection? - Ed

    3. Subject: The descendents of William Cooper of the Beekman Patent I also am interested in connecting with anyone who is doing research on the Coopers from the Beekman Patent. I have complied some information on the descendents of Reuben Cooper, another son of William Cooper. Reuben moved to Tompkins County, New York, where he died. Many of his children moved to Canada. I am almost certain that my ancestor, Asa Cooper, who was born in New York in 1793 and who lived for a time in Allegany County, New York, is related to Reuben Cooper, but I have never been able to find the exact connection. I would be happy to share the infomation that I have on the Reuben Cooper and and Asa Cooper families. Thanks, Rex Cooper --- cooper-request@rootsweb.com wrote: > > > Today's Topics: > > 1. 3. I have found that the Coopers that I am researching belong to the Beekman Patent Coopers; In the 1850 Cortland Co., NY Census Esther is living with her son Ashael and his family. In 1860 she is living with son Charles and his family. Another descendant who lives now in Cincinnatus, Cortland Co., NY has found Esther's tombstone in the same cem where Charles and his wife is buried and it says that Esther is the wife of Lewis. This family started in Dutchess Co., Dover twp. In the Beekman Patent books vol. 3 Lewis is listed as the son on William Cooper. Lewis has a bunch of brothers but the family has very little written on the individual persons. I have gleamed what I can from Vol 3 to the series. Does anyone on this list know more. William was supposed to have married a Sarah Price. I have been trying to find other resouces for this family on the net but have found little to nothing. Can anyone help. Thank you, Glee
