The name > Noah was > used for many generations in the family. JoAnn Hamblin > Yep, JoAnn, That has been reported on FamilySearch, just as much as I spread my "false Cader" around as the father of my younger Cader. There were still some from Zach's line that didn't quite buy that, and some even reported the only Noahs were in CT, NOT SC. One clue to the KY/TN conncetion was the Cooper/Looney connection, as there is lots of documentation on the Looney family. That was our first clue to Zachariah's association to Cader---LeRoy Tilson in his book, THE LOONEY FAMILY, mentioned that Zachariah was administrator of Cader's estate. We looked for that for several years. Then, turns out Cader did not have a will, but his brother, Zachariah, did settle his estate in Talladega Co., AL during the years from 1843-1845, following his death in 1842. At that time of the final signing, Cader's wife Sarah was listed as residing in DeKalb, Kemper Co., MS. And due to the fact that he did not have a will, this was a boon for us, as all the children had to be verified as heirs, with their names and birthdates! So---they are: Descendants of Cader Cooper 1 Cader Cooper 1796 - 1842 . +Sarah Byars 1799 - 1864 ...... 2 Nancy Cooper 1817 - .......... +Lof(tin?) Goyne ...... 2 Eliza Cooper 1819 - .......... +David C. Hefner 1815 - ...... 2 John C. Cooper 1821 - .......... +Martha Walker ...... 2 Elizabeth Cooper 1823 - .......... +Haskill? Owens ...... 2 Albert C. Cooper 1825 - ...... 2 Mary Jane Cooper 1828 - ...... 2 Sylvester Cooper 1830 - 1883 .......... +Amy Harriet Marshall 1835 - 1934 ...... 2 Emily Cooper 1832 - ...... 2 Joseph Cooper 1834 - ...... 2 Sarahan S. Cooper 1837 - ...... 2 Martha A. Cooper 1840 - ...... 2 George W. Cooper 1842 - We have a big and growing group of cousins from this group. Nancy

You are so right, Joyce- Since we had a published account of my husband'GGgrandfather, Sylvester, from his service in the Buena Vista Rifles of Chickasaw Co., MS through his descendants who settled in DeWitt Co., TX, I had spent most of my time looking for southern roots, and discounting any names that showed up in the Midwest. That is, until we discovered that Sylvester's father, Cader, had been married in Christian Co., KY. The book on Sylvester had said his father was from NC, but didn't even give his name. Turns out Cader's parents, John Cotton and Nancy Arnold Cooper, were in SC in the late 1700s, before coming to KY, and then Monroe Co., MS where John C. died in 1829. At one point, I had the wrong Cader, in Bertie Co., NC, but once John C.'s will was uncovered and shared with us by John Cooper, Emma Shepherd in Newman, IL recognized the info as tying in with her line from Abner, another one of John Cotton's sons. Seems they branced out from KY into IL and IN, where descendants still are. Since then, (which was this past spring) it seems like things have snowballed, and cousins keep turning up. I would post this line, but it alone is 37 pages, just for the registry report. I will try to post as much as I can in bits and pieces. But if you have any specific queries I will try to respond if there is anything I recognize. From most indications, the "preponderance of evidence" is that John Cotton Cooper, b. 1758 in Spartanburg, SC was the s/o David Cooper, b. 1725 in Warwickshire, Eng. and Elizabeth possibly WILDER. David names in his will March 17, 1792 his children: William Cooper; Rehab FOWLER; Marcome Cooper; John Cooper; Charity WILMUTH; Orphas AMOS; Sion Cooper; Malichi Cooper; Elizabeth Cooper; and Edward Cooper. There are lots of people working on all these lines, so we ought to be able to fill in any blanks if we all work together. < Zeand@aol.com> wrote: >Read about your John Cooper's children - what state did they live in and when were he or his children born. My Sarah Cooper was born 1802. Thanks for >your info. Zelma >> John Cotton Cooper was b. 1758 in Spartenburg, SC He m. Nancy Arnold possibly in KY. Two hundred acres of land in Christian Co., KY were surveyed for John Cooper in 1803. Also on the same page, John Cotton and David Cooper, written as two seperate names, but in same handwriting as rest of document, were named as witnesses to a survey for Possy?? Campbell of 340 acres. I'm sorry, but I don't have dates for all the children yet. But what we do know, from others', is this: Thomas b. 1776 m. Rebecca____; Zachariah b. 1783 m. Mary Quinn; David b. abt. 1790 m. Elizabeth Alexander 1810 in Christian Co., KY; Abner b. 1792 m. Rebecca McCoy 1810 in Butler Co., KY; Cader b. 1796 m. Sarah Byars 1816 in Christian Co., KY Isaac Cooper was executor of John C.'s will (1829 Monroe Co., MS) so he was probably the oldest son. Others named, each receiving one dollar, were: Charity Haster Rebecca Logan otherwise Cooper the sum of one dollar Betsy Biers(Byars) Zachariah Cooper Sarah Morgan Winnifray Biers Marcum Cooper Abner Cooper Rody Givins Eady Givins From information I received from Jane Ramsey <spicetea@mindspring.com>, David Cooper3,( s/o Marcome2 grandson of David1) had by wife 1) Elizabeth WADLINGTON, a daughter Sarah Ann Cooper, b.28 Sept. 1802 in Trigg Co., KY. Could she be yours? I will some of the others as I can. I hope this fits, or gives you a lead. Nancy

    3. IN THE 1850 CENSUS FOR LEE COUNTY, VA, ELIZABETH COOPER IS LISTED ALONG WITH A SON GEORGE 20, AND DAUGHTERS MARY 17, CATHERINE 14, MARTHA 12. WHILE THERE IS A CONTINUING RECORD FOR HER CHILDREN, ELIZABETH IS NOT LISTED THEREAFTER AND THE 1870 CENSUS FINDS THE CHILDREN LIVING IN SEVERAL AREA HOMES. SON GEORGE HAS MARRIED. WHILE ONE MIGHT CONSIDER THAT ELIABETH DIED IN HER EARLY FORTIES , THERE IS NO BURIAL RECORD AND NO RECORD THAT SHE MARRIED. ALTHOUGH IN LATER RECORDS, ALL LIST THEIR BIRTH PLACE AS VA, WE HAVE FOUND NO RECORD TO THIS POINT AS FROM WHERE THEY MAY HAVE COME TO LEE COUNTY. SINCE THERE ARE SIMILAR NAMES IN HAMPSHIRE COUNTY WHICH BECAME PART OF WEST VA IN 1863, THERE COULD BE A LINK BUT WE CAN'T FIND IT. IN THEIR MARRIAGES, HER CHILDREN LISTED THEIR MOTHER BUT LEFT THE FATHER VACANT? SINCE THE SON WAS GEORGE , COULD THERE HAVE BEEN A FATHER GEORGE? EXCUSE SUCH A LONG QUERY BUT OUR LIST OF VOIDS IS LONG. HAVE ANY OF OTHER COOPER LINES FOUND ANY DIRECTIONS WHERE WE MAY LOOK? LOVE YOU IF YOU HAVE! LOVE YOU IF YOU HAVEN'T!
