    3. Amy, Happy Thanksgiving! Looks like we need to take the William that married Lydia Clark off as David's son. After further checking, he doesn't fit. He was born in PA. Jane(Strickland,in Nashville), had some more specifics, and pointed out the discrepancies. I'm sorry for the wrong info. I'll talk to you more as soon as I get a chance. 3. Dear Researchers of the COOPER Surname, Ontario, Canada COOPERs have been mentioned in several recent posts. I am researching COOPERs and I am also interested in the tobacco-growing area of Ontario that is centered around the town of Delhi, which is located between London and Saint Catharines, only a few miles from the Lake Erie shore, and directly across the lake from Erie, Pennsylvania. There is a tobacco museum at Delhi, which calls itself the "Tobacco Capital of Canada". If anyone knows of COOPERs who either grew tobacco or were tobacconists, I would be more than happy to hear from you. Incidentally, there was a tribe of Native Americans in Ontario, Canada who were known as the Tobacco Indians. Thank You, Randal "Randy" W. 1. [COOPER-L] Will of my Thos Cooper, VA>Greene Co NC 1793
    2. Fellow Cooper Researchers: I continue to research my Thomas Cooper, who was in Bedford Co VA to buy land and marry Sarah Anthony in 1762, then in Henry Co, and finally in Greene/Hancock Co GA where he died in 1796. At the DAR in the supporting files for an application on behalf of one of his descendants I found his will and some estate records, which I now submit to you. Unfortunately, one of my favorite readings, the inventory, was not deemed necessary as supporting material so it was not included. Fortunately for me, they do provide documentary proof that my Polly who married John Waller, was indeed his child...She appears to be probably one of the eldest of the children, and perhaps the only one who didn't move to Georgia with everybody else. She married Crispen Robertson SHELTON, and I descend through their daughter Nancy Clark (Sarah Anthony's mother was Eliz. Clark), Shelton who married (very big sigh) her second cousin Moses Hurt Shelton, whose parents were first Shelton cousins (another really big sigh). The documents in the DAR files were typed so I don't know if there may have been some changes in the transition. I have retyped them exactly as submitted.. They also include a copy of the will and inventory of Joseph Anthony, Sarah's father (as well as a note that he came from Scotland!!!!, but that's for later). Joseph Anthony's will and inventory are also online at various websites. I am going to match up the DAR documents with the online documents before I submit them to any lists. I think That this Thomas Cooper (b. 1733/5 according to records) had brothers John, James, and Joseph. And I think that he was perhaps NOT born in Frederick Co VA as some sources say. According to the DAR documents, except for Thos Jr & Judith Harvey who was not named, the children of Thomas married as follows: Joseph Cooper - Martha Dillard Agnes Cooper - George Hamilton Micajah Cooper -- ???? still a youth at time of father's death Thomas Cooper Jr., -- Judith Harvey (parents of Mark Anthony Cooper) this marriage is not noted in the DAR documents Polly Cooper - John Waller (MINE) John Cooper - ??? Elizabeth Cooper m. Thomas Stovall Penelope Cooper m. James Nisbet Sarah Cooper m. Thomas Lancaster I have a neater Word document of the following, although I appear to be a party of one researching Thomas who had too many daughters. My best to you all, Janet Hunter The Will of Thomas Cooper Georgia, Hancock County. In the name of God, Amen! I Thomas Cooper of Green County and State of Georgia being in perfect health and sound mind calling to mind the mortality of the body do make and constitute this my last will and testament. First, - I give my soul to god who gave it to me, and my body to the grave to be decently buried in hopes of a resurection to eternal life through the merits of Jesus Christ. I give to my loving wife Sarah Cooper one negro woman named Winney, one horse and saddle, one feather bed and furniture and two cows and calves to her and her heirs forever. I lend to my during her life two negroes named George and Hannah. I lend by wife one other negro named Judah until my youngest daughter comes of age or marries. I lend to my wife during her widowhood, the trace of land whereon I now live together with the mill thereon and it is also my will that by the consent of my wife my executors shall dispose of the land whose title shall be valid and with the money purchase a tract of land northerly where I wish my wife and family to remove to and further it is my will that after my wifes decease or marriage the above willed land shall be sold and equally divided between all my surviving daughters. I give to my daughter Elizabeth, two negroes Rachel and Charles. I give to my son Joseph, two negroes Milly and her youngest child together with a tract of land lying on Logden Creek, containing two hundred and seventy acres. I give to my daughter Agnes, two negroes Vinney and Toney. I give to my son Thomas one negro named Will, one feather bed and furniture, two cows and calves together with my upper tract of land on Logdam Creek containing two hundred and seventy acres. I give to my daughter Polly, two negroes Boland and Davy. I give to my daughter Penelope four negroes, Jim, Biddy, Thency and Benn, one feather bed and furniture, one horse and saddle and two cows and calves. I give to my son John, one negro named Sam, one horse and saddle one bed and furniture, two cows and calves. I give to my son Micajah, one negro named Nelly, one horse and saddle, one feather bed and furniture and two cows and calves. I give to my daughter Sarah, four negroes, Theny Frank and John, when she marries or comes of age and after my wifes death or marriage a negro named Judah. I give to my two sons John and Micajah my two bounties of land on Sand Run to be equally divided by my executors, having respect to quality and quantity, and it is further my will that my mill Logan Creek together with a lot of land containing 30 to 35 acres be sold to the best advantage, ten pounds of which money I give my son Joseph and ten pounds to my son Thomas, the balance to be equally divided between my two sons John and Micajah and it is further my will that all my just debts be paid and all my estate not herein bequeathed shall be at the disposal of my executors to purchase a tract of land and make the improvements etc for my wife and family should she choose to move Northwardly and it is further my will that after the decease or marriage of my wife, the property purchased with my estate shall be equally divided among all my children. I do constitute and appoint as my executors, Thomas Stoval, John Dillard, Joseph Cooper, Jr., Thomas Cooper, Jr., George Hamilton and Henry Graybill for this my will and testiment, making all former wills void.
