    3. Well, after sending this THEN checking the archives, I found Tobias Cooper b. 1800 in Madison Co KY. Thought I'd just toss in that Tyre Davis was born 1815 in Madison Co KY to Uriah and Elizabeth Harris Davis. Uriah was in Saline Co in 1818, I guess with family in tow? Rumor was they came to Red River Co or area in 1853 from IL. The IL part is not rumor but the Red River area is. Thanks again. George

    2. I have a Joseph COOPER married Margaret Ann HANSHEW daughter of Samuel HANSHEW and Nancy C. WILSON/HANSHEW. Margaret was born 21 June 1860 in Smyth County, VA. Joseph and Margaret married June 10 1876 in Bristol, Sullivan, Tenn. I found the family on 1880 Wythe County, VA. census with a daughter Laura 9/12 months of age. An elderly cousin gave me info that Margaret died 11 June 1896, but don't know where, buried where or any other information. I would like to know what happened to Joseph and Laura? Do you have any of these names in your line? Thanks for your help. Barbara Hanshew Schulz bhanshew@aol.com

    2. Hi Carol, While I have nothing to connect me to your Albert, it is interesting that I have Ethel, Albert and Florence Cooper in Phila. in the 1900's.....their father (a master bricklayer) was George Cooper who after coming to States in mid 1800's, lived first with relatives in Columbia City, Pa. and then moved to Phila. (Roxborough section) at some time after marriage to Mary Ann Hurlston, also from England, and several of their children were born. I do not know where in England he came from. My mother, Elsie Priscilla, was the youngest of George and Mary Ann's large family. Might their be a connection? Thank you. mae kathleen

    3. I can't say for sure about that particular one in the census, but I am aware of several other Cooper-Yates connections, going back even into early North Carolina. And our Coopers are also in TX. I am also especially interested in your SCOGGINS,too, as my husband's paternal grandmother was a SCOGIN(and other variations.) Would be glad to compare notes.
