I'm looking for information regarding Catherine Cooper who married Alexander McQueen in Culpeper County, VA ca 1725. Her father was John Cooper. I believe that Catherine Cooper may be a sister or aunt to Abraham Cooper, b. 1725. lois
I am looking for info my gggrandparents. They are WILLIAM JONES and ANNA LOUISE WOODRUFF. I think they were in Tennessee first and then came up to Massachusetts. (I cant seem to find a marriage date or any other info for William and Anna..) Their daughter (my ggrandmother), ANNA LOUISA JONES, was born in Jackson, TN. Unfortunately, they did not keep birth records when she was born. Anna Louisa Jones ended up in MA with her parents and married WALTER A.COOPER in 1898. Thus, having 5 children, (one died I assume at birth). My grandmother was Myrtle Eliza Cooper. If anyone thinks they have a connection or so.. please dont hesitate to contact me. We are searching for a Cooper in North Carolina who married a woman named Armitta b. abt. 1804 in NC with daughters Lavinia b. 1830 NC who married David McNabb in TN and Louisa/Louiza b. abt. 1838 NC and married Henry Horton Hammer 1855 in TN. This has been our brick wall for years. Betty Jane Hylton bjhylton@comcast.net
This sounds like our line. We have several Armitta's in our Cooper line. I will review my notes and get back to you in a couple of hours. Lois in Auburn, CA
Thank you, Margaret. Tyrrell is one of the counties I worked on most recently. Since John Cooper married Sarah Harris, daughter of North Carolina couple Thomas and Martha Harris, my approach has been to check counties that have both Coopers and Harrises. (John and Sarah married after their families went to Indiana.) ...I hope that makes sense. Lots and lots with the same names as Cooper's in Alabama, Louisiana. My grandfather had a brother, Webster, who moved from NC to Louisiana where he was a dentist. I've been working on Cooper's that are in the late 1700's to early 1800's in North Carolina so the details of where Webster lived in LA aren't fresh but I do have other information. All the Cooper's in the two counties in NC that I mentioned, they all inter-married so, not only do you have first names repeated but lots of times, the same. Ugh ! All those counties in the Eastern part of NC along the Pamlico and Albemarle Sounds, have a ton of Cooper's if anyone is looking in North Carolina. Margaret **************Start the year off right. Well, Dan, my husband of 66 years died on December 3. We buried him on December 7, which was appropriate as he was a Pearl Harbor survivor. When I get my emotional strength back, I'm hoping, in Andy's honor, to learn where in North Carolina our John Cooper was born, January 16, 1810.
