ATTENTION: COOPER-lines worldwide. A Cooper Surname DNA Project is available to anyone looking for a way to locate Cooper relatives and their relationship to other Cooper-lines. It requires a male with the Cooper surname. The purpose is to find people with the Cooper surname who share a common ancestor, as well as identifying the different lines and possible points of origin. Use DNA analysis to: 1. Substantiate your family research. 2. Further your research efforts. 3. Give you direction in your research. 4. Prove and disprove research you have completed. 5. Prove or disprove family lore. This single aspect of family research makes the investment in DNA testing more than worth the cost. I can attest to this fact. It has disproved historical documentation on my Cooper-line written by some well thought-out Cooper-line researchers and published by prestigious publishers over many years and handed down from generation to generation. I predict it will disprove many historically documented details of Cooper-lines throughout history. DNA analysis is an invaluable research tool, which will improve with age. By no means does it supplant traditional genealogy research, but it does supplement and give an added tool in genealogical research. Effects not often discussed are: 1. It forces you to do in-depth research of your family's roots and to share your findings with other family researchers and encourage their participation. 2. It gives you a greater explanation of your family's history and its migration patterns in the U.S.A. and throughout the world. 3. It brings excitement into your research, causes families to come together and gives your research a sense of worth. 4. It can find previously unknown and new relatives. 5. It will permit you to leave a legacy to your descendands of familial ties with pride. If any one is interested in becoming a part of this Project and would like more information, please contact me at the following email address. H. Can anyone on the list assist me in getting in touch with Tabitha Graves? Ms. Graves is apparently a very knowledgeable researcher of the Cooper families of Etowah/DeKalb County. Any assistance will be greatly appreciated. Jim G.
There is a set of Coopers who moved into the Crossland Area of Calloway County in the mid 1830 from Montgomery County, Kentucky. My research indicates this family socialized with those of the Puryear/Paris area but never intermarried. Do you have any record on any of these Coopers and any possible family connection with the Henry County Coopers? I suspect there is a family tie somewhere, but have never been able to make an association. I know that relatives of these Calloway County Coopers, originated as far as my research has been able to verify, go back to Berkeley County, Virginia in the mid 1700s. Some descendants of these Montgomery County, Kentucky Coopers moved to Bath County and Garrard County, Kentucky. As far as the Berkeley County connection, indications suggest that Pennsylvania or Maryland may be an origination point. Just wondering if you might add any suggestion? Martha Ann Hill married Joseph Cooper at Threets, Lauderdale County, Alabama on February 18, 1845. Martha was born about 1825 and died in 1894. Joseph was born about 1818 and died in 1893. Both are buried at the Balentine Cemetery in Wayne County Tennessee near Cypress Inn, Tennessee. Does anyone know her HILL family ? Thanks, SteveCooper [email protected]

Am seeking information on lost branch of COOPERS. These COOPERS originate in Union Co. SC, then go to Spartanburg SC. Thomas William COOPER 1846 - 1915 and his wife, Martha Ann Hollis, are buried New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery in Cross Anchor area of Spartanburg. He had at least one son Thomas Lafayette Cooper who went to Laurens Co., SC. Would like to know more information on this line. Also, I have info on a letter dated 1976 that says one of Thomas' descendents in Laurens had the COOPER Family Bible. I would love to have a copy of the names/dates listed in the Bible. And, just to push my luck, we are in desperate need of a male carrying the Cooper name for DNA research. There is only one known from the Spartanburg branches, and no luck there. I have a good bit of info on this line, and will gladly share! Lisa Burns Spartanburg, SC
Can you give us a time frame and possible location for these people? It would be helpful in finding them. Carroll (Cooper) Summers I am Jacob L. Bateman III or Le and I am looking for information on William S. COOPER and Elizabeth Ann OATES. I would like names of descendants. Elizabeth is my fourthgrandaunt. L
My husband's line is from the Spartanburg branch. He took the DNA test and matched three others who had documented the same line.(one a known first cousin). We are from the line of David, b. 1725 and Elizabeth (Betsey) presumed-to-be WILDER. My husband is through the line of John Cotton and Nancy ARNOLD; another through his brother Malachi and Ann WILKINSON; and another through John's son Thomas, b. 1775 m. Rebecca LOGAN. I show three Thomases in my files, but none as late as 1846. I don't have all the descendants of all David's children. I'm confused about what you meant in your mention of the one from your line, but no luck. Has he taken the test, with no match, or he won't take the test? It is a very simple process, and the fee is not too high when you consider the time and money that would otherwise be put forth. I'd be interested in sharing info with you to see if there is a possible link. Theodore Cooper, was born Dec 1843 at sea, a passage from Germany to America. His father may have been George Cooper age 54 - German found in Righton, Monroe Co, NY Post Office Rochester, in the 1850, there was no family listed Theodore H. Cooper is listed in the following US Census. 1870 Auburn, Cayuga NY age 28, with him is an Edward Cooper 19 (born 1851) both give occupations as moulders. They are living with a Margaret Morse and her family. No Census for 1889-1890 1890 Auburn Cayuga NY Theodore Cooper age 57 born at sea. wife: Amelia Cooper 45 Mar 1855 NY son: Horatio Cooper 26 May 1874 NY step-son Oscars McCarthy 21 Dec 1784 NY They have been married 11 years c1889. It is possible that Theodore Cooper's first wife was Mary Elizabeth Firth, born 1 Sept 1850, Mary was the daughter of Horatio Emerson Firth and his wife Elizabeth Weston, they were both medical doctors in Brooklyn NY. Mary Elizabeth, married a Theodore Cooper on 14 Aug 1783 in Brooklyn NY. If this is the correct line they would have been parents of Horatio (Census). sons Theodore H. and Charles Everhart Cooper. Marjorie Cooper would have been a daughter. This family may have been related to the Peter Cooper family of Monroe Twp, Orange Co. NY. I would appreciate any information on this family. Hi Bob...Have the DNA test done and see if you match one of the many , many Cooper's who have already submitted their DNA. It would be a starting point if you match one of them.... --WebTV-Mail-6490-306 Content-Type: Text/Plain; Charset=US-ASCII Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Just wondering and wandering for about 20 years now. Trying to find my Cooper roots before 1850 in Lee County, VA. In that census, Elizabeth Cooper 40 was listed as head of household with children as George 20, Martha 17, Catherine ( my grgrandmother ) 15, Mary 12. In the 1860 census in that county, Elizabeth Cooper is not listed. George has married an Elizabeth Gilbert. The daughters are living with Morris relatives or benevolent neighbors. We believe Elizabeth Morris Cooper died around 1854 in Lee County of a severe fever but have found no record. Subsequent records show a listing by all the children of Elizabeth Cooper as mother. No father is listed. All list VA as place of birth. Our Cooper relatives are traceable beginning with this 1850 census. The Morris and Garrisons are traceable thru the great halls of Europe. Our branch of the Morris family is noted by the birth of Elizabeth in 1808 ( ? ) into the family of Elias Morris, sr. in Montgomery County, NC. Elizabeth would have been around age 30 when married . The trek of the Elias Morris, sr. family ( which seems to have been closely knit ) thru the mountains of NC , TN , VA has not been clearly mapped . We believe Carter County, TN was a stop on the route . Question to those of you in this exchange of info is have you seen any evidence of a marriage between Elizabeth Morris and a Cooper ? Similarity in origin led me to this question ? Perhaps a George ??? NOW ! WHO WAS THAT COOPER FELLOW WHO MARRIED GRGRGRANDMOTHER ELIZABETH MORRIS AND MADE ME A COOPER ? --WebTV-Mail-6490-306 Content-Disposition: Inline Content-Type: Message/RFC822 Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7Bit Received: from smtpin-3201.bay.webtv.net (209.240.204.226) by storefull-3158.bay.webtv.net with WTV-SMTP; Wed, 23 Jun 2004 22:41:24 -0700 Received: from lists5.rootsweb.com (lists5.rootsweb.com [66.43.18.41]) by smtpin-3201.bay.webtv.net (WebTV_Postfix+sws) with ESMTP id 26940FE58; Wed, 23 Jun 2004 22:41:24 -0700 (PDT) Received: (from [email protected]) by lists5.rootsweb.com (8.12.8/8.12.8) id i5O30AI5011117; Wed, 23 Jun 2004 21:00:10 -0600 Date: Wed, 23 Jun 2004 21:00:10 -0600 Message-Id: <[email protected]> From: [email protected] Subject: COOPER-D Digest V04 #96 X-Loop: [email protected] X-Mailing-List: <[email protected]> archive/volume04/96 Precedence: list MIME-Version: 1.0 Content-Type: multipart/digest; boundary="----------------------------" To: [email protected] Reply-To: [email protected] X-Brightmail: Message tested, results are inconclusive ------------------------------ Content-Type: text/plain COOPER-D Digest Volume 04 : Issue 96 Today's Topics: #1 Re: [COOPER] NJ Coopers [[email protected]] #2 Re: [COOPER] NJ Coopers ["joed99" <[email protected]>] #3 Re: [COOPER] NJ Coopers [[email protected]] #4 Re: [COOPER] Cooper in Missouri ["gloria" <[email protected]>] Administrivia: To unsubscribe from COOPER-D, send a message to [email protected] that contains in the body of the message the command unsubscribe and no other text.
