Just so everyone is aware, and just so we can get back to our Coopers <g> this person was removed and barred from the list quite a while ago, so any replies to that message are falling on deaf ears at this point. ;o) Take care, Diana List Admin AllFamilies Scrapbooks: http://www.arkansasfamilies.net/famscrapindex.htm ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, August 08, 2004 6:56 AM Subject: [COOPER] One time free trial for Ancestry.com 1 month for $10 See info inside
Gee, Ernie, that's a rather ingenious scam. I pray no one falls for it, though. I've never heard of a FREE trial costing $10! I thank you very much for this critical information. I believe this may be a solution to a brick wall for me, and you have helped me scale it!!! With so many Thos Coopers in early New England, it is quite a task to sort them. I have Coopers and Culvers near Palmyra, NY, and my mothers family is Conkling. She said the families knew each other before she met my dad 70 years ago, so this could be a connection. I have been working on this family trying to learn more about them using the census. I am unable to get them back any further than Charles. Charles father may have been a Lewis but the Lewis in the 1810-1830 census does not seem to quite match. Esther is Charles's mother (according to the 1860 census) but have no idea who her husband was. Can someone help me learn more about them? I think that all the Coopers who lived in Dover Twp, Dutchess Co., NY were all related but have no idea how. Thanks for whatever help you can give me. Excuse the error in the last sentence of my previous message. The business became the Jockey Underwear Co. PD
I am interested in information on Samuel T. Cooper, pastor of Roberts Chapel in 1854. He served a number of ministerial posts in Indiana from 1846 to 1870. In 1876, after retiring from the ministry, he started a hosiery business under the name of "S.T. Cooper & Sons". This was either in St. Joseph MI or Chicago. He eventually moved to Kenosha, WI, where he began to manufacture mens underwear, calling it "Kenosha Klosed Krotch". His sons were Henry, Willis and Charles. The business eventually became the Kockey Underwear Co. Any information about this family would be greatly appreciated. Pat Darling
