His mother was Mahala Coonrod, born in Kentucky but lived in Pike Co., Indiana when she married John Wixon/Wixson there in 1830. I think a lot of families named children in the early 1800s after the War of 1812 hero Admiral Oliver Hazard Perry. My Oliver was born in 1837 and grew up in the Vicksburg, Mississippi area. I can only wonder if he met Oliver Coonrod during the Civil War when he served in the Union army at Vicksburg.
