    1. [COONROD] Re: Marion Co. OH Coonrods- Zacheria, Oldver, John, Charley & Maria
    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Coonrod, Coonrad, Conrod, Conrad, Johnson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/RkJ.2ACIB/164.2.1.1 Message Board Post: This originally comes from a family tree drawn in 1938 by James Sulser/Selsar Johnson. As spellings for the family often vary and the handwriting on this is clumsy, Oldver may well be Olover, which would be a fair phonetic equivalent for Oliver. I have also found civil war listings recently in the search listing for the National Park Service. This is the link. http://www.itd.nps.gov/cwss Oliver lists in the 58 Regiment, Ohio Infantry, Company H under the spellings Coonrod/Coonrad as a Sgt./1st Sgt. Other (or possibly the same) Olivers list as Conrod with the 147 Reg't., Indiana Infantry, Comp. E as a Pvt., 151 Reg't., Illinois Infantry, Comp. E and as Conrad with the 58 Reg't, Ohio as above, 151 Reg't, Illinois, as above, 139 Reg't., Illinois Infantry, and with the Unassigned Illinois Volunteers. You should be able to send to them for copies of the Muster rolls and any pension records. I have enough other iron in the fire that I'm sure I won't get to Oliver this year! I know there are also Coonrod families that were in Kansas in this period in or near the Fort Scott-Bourbon County area including Woolery as a name, and I believe there is a Coonrod Cemetery. They may connect to an Adam Coonrod, also originally from Ohio. Hope this helps. We may well be cousins! Good hunting! MaryAnn
