Maybe you are assuming that her parents had to die in order for her to have been adopted??? Wilhelminia went to live with her sister, Mildred Jane Coonrod, and Mildred's husband, Aaron W. Crowningshield, when she was very YOUNG because of family circumstances. She was formally adopted although Ben and Loretta were still ALIVE. On 10-10-1931, she married Claude J. Aubin.
