He was born in Ross County, Ohio, the son of Robert Owen and Elva (Recob) Coonrod. Frank was a farmer from his early teens to his mid-twenties and later retired from Clark Service Center after 25 years of service in small engine repair In his younger years Frank enjoyed square dancing and was a Boy Scout Troop leader. He liked woodworking, fishing, camping and playing cards. Frank is preceded in death by his parents; a brother Everett Coonrod He is survived by his wife Lola J. (Burton) Coonrod; a son Ronald (Anna) Coonrod; a daughter Regina (Edward) Fulton; step-son James (Tracy) Cain, Jr.; stepdaughters Darlene (Earl Smith) Haggy and Christine (Vince Aspen) Cain; brothers Robert (Dorothy) Coonrod and Henry (Priscilla) Coonrod; a sister Margret Coonrod; half-sisters Mary Jo Knisley, Lou Wilson and Grace Writesel; 25 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; many friends who knew and loved him. Visitation will be today from 6-8 PM in the RICHARDS, RAFF & DUNBAR MEMORIAL HOME. A funeral service to honor Frank's life will be Monday at 10:00 AM in the memorial home with Rev. Orbie Estep officiating. Burial will follow in Glen Haven Memorial Gardens. Expressions of sympathy may be made at www.richardsraffanddunbar.com. His mother was Mahala Coonrod, born in Kentucky but lived in Pike Co., Indiana when she married John Wixon/Wixson there in 1830. I think a lot of families named children in the early 1800s after the War of 1812 hero Admiral Oliver Hazard Perry. My Oliver was born in 1837 and grew up in the Vicksburg, Mississippi area. I can only wonder if he met Oliver Coonrod during the Civil War when he served in the Union army at Vicksburg. She Died in 1837 in Martin County Indiana. Just to the South of Martin Coutny in Dubois County, per the 1830 Census there lived a PETER COONROD who was born circa 1770.... There is also PETER COONROD II born 1805 in Kentucky. This Peter lived his whole live in Northeast Dubois County and died and was buried there. There is also a HENRY COONROD born 1815 in Indiana. Not sure what happened to him.... I'm not sure that MARGARET is the Daughter of PHILLIP or the HENRY and PHILLIP II and her siblings... The ONLY thing there is is Proximity.
