Mr. Cooley was born in Cunningham, Kan. After graduating from Cunningham = High School, he attended Kansas State University where he was active in = the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and was the starting center on the = KSU basketball team. He joined the Navy during World War II to become a = naval pilot. He was assigned to the Naval V-12 unit and attended Central = Methodist College in Fayette, Mo. He was then shipped to Rice Institute = in Houston, where he graduated with a B.S. in Naval Science and Tactics. = After the war he returned to Kansas State University to complete a B.S. = in mechanical engineering. He worked for nearly 40 years at Dodson Manufacturing as an engineer, = salesman and president. After retiring, he became the Contech sales = manager where he worked until present. Mr. Cooley was active in Kansas State University's College of = Agriculture and was a charter member and Royal Board Member of the = Livestock and Meat Industry Council. He was active in the Farm and Ranch = club and instrumental in the formation of a committee to raise funds for = a World War II monument at Central Methodist College in Fayette, Mo. He = was a member of Central Christian Church, board member of Wichita Youth = for Christ and supporter of many Christian ministries. He was an avid = traveler and enjoyed flying his Cessna 182 airplane. Preceded in death by wife, Phyllis M.
