In the 1850 census for Marion Co. KY, I found a Reuben Cooley 81 Elizabeth Cooley 45 Stephen L. Cooley 8 Cornelius Cooley 6 Lucretia J. Cooley 4 I believe this Reuben Cooley was born in NC and Elizabeth is his second wife Elizabeth "Betty" Followell. Stephen, Cornelius and Lucretia are Reuben's children. Also in the same house is a Nancy Smothers age 39, Joseph Smothers age 10, and James Smothers age 5. Then there is one last entry a Elizabeth Cooley age 18. Does anyone know if the Smothers and the Cooley's are related? How does Elizabeth Cooley age 18 fit into this family? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
