Do you have any information on LESTER (WARREN) COOLEY (WILLIAM3, DANIEL2, ROBERT1) was born July 07, 1853 in Auburn Township (Susquehanna) Pennsylvania/Chenango (Broome) New York, and died March 12, 1916 in Chicago (Cook) Illinois. Son of Wiliam Cooley and Eleanor Bunnell. Brother of Olive, Aurelia and Mary. This man is my great grandfather and is every elusive. Thank you for your time. Christine
Hi Jan: This is interesting but mine seem only to appear in NY. Aside from the Margaret Farrell Cooley mentioned in my posting, I presume she had a nephew James Farrell living with them in 1850 in Manhattan, NYC. Have no further knowledge of this lad. Good Luck with yours and if you find them in the Big Apple let me know. Donna
Well, this is kind of interresting. My Cooleys are not from NY. However, I have an Elizabeth Farrell married to Fielding C. Cooley 7 Dec 1911. Fieldings parents are James Harvey Cooley and Mary Ann Jones. The parents married 23 Oct 1858. Hello, I have read documents from other countries. They use to put female children in the mothers maiden name. Did you know you can name your children any name you want to i.e.....Ginger Snap (it is a cookie) My father had two daughters of which as soon as we married the surname of Cooley was gone in his line. I had four daughters. My sister had one daughter and three sons. Gone again. I named two of my daughters last name of Cooley. If I had a son I would do the same, out of respect for my father. This is a census year and I hope my Cooley line will find me through my two daughters. thats all for now, Maureen -----Original Message----- From: Sidhe 1 <sidhe1@hotmail.com> To: COOLEY-L@rootsweb.com <COOLEY-L@rootsweb.com> Date: Friday, June 16, 2000 6:55 AM Subject: Re: [Cooley] Looking for Bridgett >Hello, >Can anyone tell me who Bridgett Cooley was? >She married Capt. Maureen: I have a Michael and another researcher has a Michael - both in New York City. Does that work for you? Donna
Listers, Does anyone have a Michael Cooley. Thank you, Maureen
We have one born in 1834 in Alabama. Is that who you are looking for? Joyce
Stephen: Here is the closest I can get to your Ketchum connection: . Benjamin4 Gregory (Elizabeth3Ketcham, Joseph2, Edward1); married Deborah Bunkham ;born 17 Dec 1702 at Norwalk, Connecticut;born 17 Dec 1702 at Blooming Grove, Orange Co, New York. Children of Benjamin4 Gregory and Deborah Bunkham were as follows: i. Benjamin5 Gregory ; born 23 Jun 1734 at Wilton, Fairfield Co, Connecticut. ii. Anna Gregory (8199); born 12 Dec 1736 at Wilton, Fairfield Co, Connecticut. iii. Jemima Gregory (8200); born 27 Apr 1740 at Wilton, Fairfield Co, Connecticut. iv. Deborah Gregory (8201); married Isaac Cooley (8202); born 22 May 1743 at New Canaan, Connecticut. v. Timothy Gregory (8203); born 12 Jun 1746. The reference for this would be: Dorthy Jane Chance, The Ketcham, Ketchum Family in America, 1635-1991: Descendants of Nathaniel Ketcham of Huntington, Long Island and of Nathaniel Ketchum of Norwalk, Connecticut (Baltimore, Md.: Gateway Press, 1991), I will send you the rest of the line by private email, but I thought I would include the COOLEY connection in the list. Leslie
Stephen: Since your ggrandfather had the -um spelling of the Ketchum name, he is most likely related to the Joseph Ketchum line. I have the complete Ketchum genealogy (inherited from my grandmother) beginning with Zophar Ketchum who is presumed to be his great-grandson. There are several (hundred) of them from Illinois, I will check it for your William Ketchum Miller. Leslie > Leslie: I have no information on the above Thomas Cooley, but the name Ketchum caught my eye. My great grandfather William Ketchum Miller was born in Clark County, Illinois in 1853. He married Phoebe Jane Cooley who was born in Douglas County, Illinois in 1861. She was the daughter of Isaac Cooley and Caroline Lounsbury. Do you know anything about the Ketchum name. I have been unable to find out the connection with the Ketchum name, but when a parent throws in a middle name like Ketchum there is usually a family connection somewhere.
I am trying to get informatiom on my grandfather Preston Cooley. He was born on 15 Mar, 1874. He had a brother named Clarence and a sister named Settie or Lettie They were raised on a poor farm in Leon ,Decatur County, Iowa. They were all there til the 1885 census. He also claimed to have lived in Silver City, Iowa. Preston married a Sarah Cozad on 20 July 1894 in Muscatine, Muscatine County, Iowa. There was one child Pearl Cooley. He divorced Sarah on 4 Jan 1898 in Rock Island, Rock Island County, Ill. He married my grandmother Mary E. Luttig on 6 Dec 1900 in Rock Island, Rock Island County, Ill. They had six children Mary Elizabeth, Clarence, Helen, Henry, Sally, and my father Lawrence. I would appreciate any information on him or his brother and sister. Brenda Humphrey

I am seeking the ancestors of my gggrandfather Thomas Cooley. He married Alice Nichols 3/4/1876 (according to the Cooley Communique) in Grundy Center, Iowa. They had a son George Cooley m. Lelia M Ketchum. Their son, Hugh T Cooley m. Adella M Hauge, is my grandfather Thank you, Leslie Enerson (leslie_enerson@bobcat.com)

I am seeking information on and descendants of Reuben Cooley who married Mary C. Miller on 20 Feb 1880. Reuben was born in 1856, place and parents names unknown. Mary was born in 1858 in Millersburg, Iowa, the daughter of Reuben and Nancy Ellen Haddock Miller. Their children were: Reuben Jr., Frank, Thomas, Bert M.F., Edward R., Kattie O., Harmon, Harley and Fred. Thank you. Sandy Daltrey hotspurs@gwtc.net
Maureen, Your very welcome. We are all looking for our "connection" to this very large COOLEY line. The surname seems to show up in Mass., Conn., and New York and then onto the migration path of Ohio, Penn., and my line - to Illinois. A great many of my line and "cousins" are in Illinois. My Cooley continues to Kansas and eventually ends up in San Diego, Calif. Happy hunting and good luck on your search.
