Hello All. My name is Karen and I live in Tasmania, Australia. This is my first submission to this list. I am interested in tracing descendents of Thomas Todd Cooley who was born in 1801 in the U.K...possibly Middlesex. On 14th May, 1823 he was tried for stealing "plate" and was sentenced to be transported to Van Diemen's Land (Tasmania) for Life. He arrived in VDL aboard the "Chapman" on 27th July, 1824. On 30th May, 1836 he married Margaret Patterson at Trinity Parish Church in Hobart. Their offspring were Sarah Morris Cooley, Elizabeth Allen Cooley, Thomas Charles Cooley, John Todd Cooley, Charles Morris Cooley and Margaret Martha Marion Cooley. Thomas Charles Cooley is my g.g.grandfather. He married Susanna(h) Allwright in 1862, and believe he married Augusta Chapman after Susanna(h)'s death and had several more children.
