    1. [COOKE] THOMSON or THOMPSON - COOKE Family photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Geo E. THOMSON which was taken at the JO Buchtel's Gallery in Portland, OR. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1870's with George likely in his teens at the time the photograph was taken. Based on limited research I was able to locate the following information regarding Geo and his family: George E. THOMPSON was b. 1851 in Illinois to parents Reuben THOMPSON (1815-1885) and Mary Anna COOKE (1825-1919). George was one of 6 children born to this couple including Charles; Francis A.; George E.; Mary E.; Lewis Ernest; and James R. THOMPSON also born between 1849 and 1871. Census records provide the following details: 1870 census of Portland, OR: Rueben THOMPSON, age 55, a Carpenter, born PA M. A. THOMPSON, age 45, a Physician, born NY Francis A. THOMPSON, age 21, a Druggist, born IL Geo E. THOMPSON, age 19, an Engine Builders Apprentice, born IL Mary E. THOMPSON, age 16, at School, born NJ Lewis E. THOMPSON, age 15, at School, born IL I'm hoping to return the photograph to family. If you are a member of this family, or you know someone who might be, please contact me. Thanks, Shelley

    1. [COOKE] Elizabeth Cooke and Thomas Ridley
    2. Richard Smith
    3. I am trying to identify who the parents are of the Elizabeth Cooke who was born at Truro, MA in 1714/1717, married Thomas Ridley, Jr. abt 1737 and died at Provincetown, MA 14 Apr 1792. I have been unable to find this information and would very much like to know and I have searched Massachusetts Archives, Truro Vital Records, IGI, and NEHGS. I believe that she may be the daughter of Caleb Cooke and Deliverance Crowell. Caleb's mother was Deborah Hopkins, a descendant of Stephen Hopkins of the Mayflower and I believe that Caleb was a descendant of Francis Cooke.. According to the Truro vital records, "Elizabeth Cooke the daughter of Caleb and Deliverance Cooke died November the seventeenth in the year 1715. Abigail Cooke the daughter of Caleb and Deliverance Cooke died the twentisixth day of November in ye year 1715. Experience Cooke the daughter of Caleb and Deliverance Cooke was born at Truro in the year 1714." These entries were together and no other children were found, but it would seem probable that another daughter Elizabeth was born to Caleb and Deliverance and named for the child who died, as was commonly done. I already have Mayflower Society membership as a descendant of Isaac Allerton and would be elated if I could find proof of the above as it would give me two more Mayflower lines. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Richard G. Smith Burnet, TX

My great Grandfather was Edgar, Grandfather Francis Cooke and my mother and her siblings are the last of the Cookes and are in their 70's and 80. This spring we are taking them on a field trip to all the landmarks such as monuments in Windsor, Hadley and Simsbury as well as the graves in Hartford and Litchfield County. We are also direct descendents of the Talcotts and Col Joseph Wadsworth (Charter Oak Fame), whose daughter Hannah Wadsworth married Aaron IV. Thanks Rich Was wondering if you may have any other historical places to bring our parents and siblings as well as the younger generation this spring. My Evelyn Cooke was born around 1898 in West Bromwich / Smethwick area of the West Midlands. As far as I can tell she remained unmarried and died in the West Midlands too. I have found that there was a lot of Cookes in the Midlands & Shropshire areas so if you find any relatives from this region let me know as we still may be related ! Good hunting...
