    2. You don't say when Signe was born, but familysearch.org shows Herman (33), Signe (28), and Ruth (3) Carlson in Chicago in 1930, Signe immigrated in 1922, Ruth born in Illinois. Diane

    3. /Dear Diane,/ Thank you for your reply! My e-mail did state Signe's date of birth (in the bottom of the e-mail; pasted also into this mail for information). The additional facts you provided me with are very helpful indeed. Is it possible to see when (and if) Herman and Signe ever married, and whether they had any more children? Furthermore, does it say anything about where Ruth lives now (if she is still alive)? /All the best; Joakim Rådström, Sweden/ DLCulhane@cs.com skrev 2012-01-23 13:32: > You don't say when Signe was born, but familysearch.org shows Herman > (33), Signe (28), and Ruth (3) Carlson in Chicago in 1930, Signe > immigrated in 1922, Ruth born in Illinois. > > Diane -------- Original message -------- Subject: Looking for information on Signe (Ottilia/Otilia) OSTBERG (ÖSTBERG/MELIN), between 1922 and 1933 Date: Thu, 24 Mar 2011 10:47:24 +0100 From: Joakim Rådström <freelance@joakimradstrom.com> To: COOK-CO-IL@rootsweb.com /Dear fellow Cook County genealogists,/ I am a Swedish guy looking for information on my great-grandmother Signe Ottilia/Otilia SCHWARM, born May 1, 1902, deceased September 1985 in Portland, OR. We know about Signe's history between 1933 (when she married Eugene SCHWARM) until her death, but not about her whereabouts and possible marriages/children between 1922 (when she arrived in US) and 1933. Signe was born ÖSTBERG (American spelling OSTBERG), and emigrated from Sweden to US in 1922. She possibly left for USA with Nils Gustaf (or Fritz) MELIN (possible US spelling MALINE or similar). According to the Ellis Island ship records, Signe's destination was the town CHRISTINE, ND., where Nils Gustaf's (Fritz's) mother, Hulda MELIN, lived. Nils Gustaf's (Fritz's) listed his nearest relative in Sweden according to the ship records as his aunt, Karin MELIN, who lived at Folkungagatan 18 B in STOCKHOLM. The above findings have made me wonder whether Signe first settled with Nils Gustaf or Fritz MELIN/MALINE, and even married him, or if she went on from North Dakota to for instance Illinois (which some people have guessed, and which is the reason to why I joined this list) and from there to Oregon, where she finally met with her husband-to-be Eugene. I am extremely grateful for every kind of information that can shed some light on Signe's life during this period. /Very best regards,/ Joakim Rådström Stockholm, SWEDEN *Background information: Social Security Death Index (SSDI) Death Record for **Signe Schwarm* Name: Signe Schwarm Date of Birth: Thursday May 01, 1902 Date of Death: September 1985 Est.
