I've "rescued" an old photograph identified only as "STAPLES" which was taken at the Benj. F. Jones Studio in Providence, Rhode Island. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1870's with the young man in the photograph likely in his teens or 20's at the time. The photograph was recovered along with others belonging to the Class of 1878 from Brown University. Based on research I did locate Charles Jason STAPLES in the Class of 1878 at Brown, so I believe that this is a photograph of him. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Charles and his family as follows: Charles Jason STAPLES was b. 20 May 1856 in Meadville, PA to parents Carlton Albert STAPLES (b. 20 Mar 1827 in Mendon, MA) and Priscilla SHIPPEN (b. 20 Nov 1819 in PA). Charles married Grace Maria DEAN (b. 16 Jan 1890 in Lexington, MA) on 16 Jan 1890 in Lexington, MA and together they had 5 children including, Lawrence Carlton; Elliot Shippen; Robert Taft; Charles Warren; and Priscilla STAPLES, all born between 1891 and 1899. STAPLES, age 44, born May 1856, married 10 years, born PA, parents born MA/PA, a Clergyman Grace D. STAPLES, wife, age 28, born Jan 1872, married 10 years, 4 children/4 living, born MA, parents born MA Laurence C. STAPLES, son, age 8, born Oct 1891, born MN, at School Elliot S. STAPLES, son, age 6, born Dec 1893, born MN, at School Robert T. STAPLES, son, age 4, born Sept 1896, born NH Chas. W.
