    3. I also asked for my father-in-law's records for 1944-1946 for the Army a few years ago and was told they were lost in the fire. I tried again in an online request in the name of my husband as next of kin and got about 35 pages of records a few weeks ago. It took about 10 weeks because NARA had to stabilize the files before they could copy them. Some of the records have clear burn marks around the edges. It cost $60, same as an IDPF. At a local society meeting on WWII records, the speaker also said you may get better results hiring someone in St. Louis to go in person to the archives. He mentioned this person as reliable but I have not used her personally: *Redbird Research* 3 Sandbar Ct St. Louis, MO 63303-6065 *Telephone: * (636) 448-3275 *Fax: * (636) 447-5154 *E-mail: * redbirdresearch@att.net *Contact Person: * Lori Berdak Miller *Research Specialty: * Persons of prominence files, archival military records, current military records located at NPRC - 201 Files, morning reports and rosters, cemeteries. 3. Does anyone know if WWII Navy records are available? My Dad was in the Navy, and he is now 90 and living with Parkinson's in Houston. May I obtain his records as next of kin?
