Have noticed a very nice feature of the 1940 census, in that it shows the number of years of education a person had. For those with immigrant ancestors, that gives some insight into life in the "old country." Two of my Irish grandparents said they had 8 years, the other two only 4 and 3. All were born in the 1870s, emigrated in the 1890s. Diane
