    3. Which website and census years are you talking about? If it is Ancestry for the 1920 and earlier censuses, you might have better luck if you change to Old Search and the old viewer. I do not know how to change viewers, maybe somebody else can help with that. To change to Old Search, you have to click on the option to do that from the Main Search page, I believe. But another option would be to get your censuses for printing from HeritageQuest for people who are in the USA. That is free, and generally only indexed for head of household and boarders or roomers, but since you know which ones you want, that might work. You have a choice of PDF or TIFF files there and could try both. If you do not know about accessing HeritageQuest for free from home via USA library sites, then I have a bunch about that on the following page. Most states have some kind of interlibrary agreement so that if your own local public library does not carry HeritageQuest, you can access from another library in the same state. http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~thecohens/resources.html But if it is Ancestry.com, you also could call and ask them. They have a large crew of people whose job it is to help subscribers and keep us happy. I could not figure out how to download an image from a different browser, and they helped me with that. 1-800-ANCESTRY Plus, if you call to register your dissatisfaction and need for assistance, then they will know people need them to keep the old viewer around and that is important.
