    1. Re: [COOK-CO-IL] 5413 South Wood Street Missing from ED 103-996

    3. I had good luck finding people in Rhode Island. I've found about 15 of my families. However, I'm running into the same problem as Thomas for my husband's family in Chicago. I was looking for 5638 Drake. It's possible my family wasn't there in 1940 because the address comes from the WWII draft registration from 1942, but the house should be there. It's ED 103-2494. I found Drake in this group, but there are many weird things here. There were 3 or 4 houses in the 5600's enumerated, but there are also many lines of information erased here and there, where you can see a family was listed, then erased and on these lines the enumerator wrote "extra lines", and cancel on the left side of the sheet. On one page there is a note that says "extra houses" LOL Then, starting about 4 pages from the end, the sheets have no street names. He did write in block numbers here, but no names. I'm guessing some of these houses are Drake since he missed so many the first time through, but they belong to more than one street because I found at least two with the same house number. I spent some time over the weekend helping find someone on Staten Island, NY and we ran into many missing house numbers. Using the enumeration district maps, and not just the descriptions, we were in the right place. I'm also having trouble finding an address in Northampton, MA. Again, I have the street, but the house number seems to be missing. I wonder if these missing addresses were gathered later by mail or by visits to the homes at a later date, and if so, where is this information?
