Anyone out there have knowledge of Ukrainian given names that can help with the following? Google just isn't doing it... Could HRYHORIJ translate to GEORGE? Could PARASKEVIA translate to PAULINE? Also, is HRYC a short form of HRYHORIJ? Really struggling with my paternal grandmother's family from the far SE (Sub-Carpathia) region of Poland. Because of a long history of border changes, this area has a very strong Ukrainian influence. Thanks, Ann. Been there, done that. Got an answer to one of my three questions. Wikipedia is a helpful tool, but I prefer to seek out more reliable sources.
