Anyone out there have knowledge of Ukrainian given names that can help with the following? Google just isn't doing it... Could HRYHORIJ translate to GEORGE? Could PARASKEVIA translate to PAULINE? Also, is HRYC a short form of HRYHORIJ? Really struggling with my paternal grandmother's family from the far SE (Sub-Carpathia) region of Poland. Because of a long history of border changes, this area has a very strong Ukrainian influence. 3. Thanks, Ann.  Been there, done that.  Got an answer to one of my three questions.  Wikipedia is a helpful tool, but I prefer to seek out more reliable sources.   Ruth   ________________________________ From: Ann Moro <grandmachick33@yahoo.com> To: Ruth Susmarski <rususmar@yahoo.com>; Cook County <COOK-CO-IL@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 30, 2012 9:24 PM Subject: Re: [COOK-CO-IL] Ukrainian given names Try Wikipedia  Ann Moro ________________________________ From: Ruth Susmarski <rususmar@yahoo.com> To: Cook County <COOK-CO-IL@rootsweb.com> Sent: Mon, April 30, 2012 2:34:08 PM Subject: [COOK-CO-IL] Ukrainian given names This is not Cook County related, exactly, although many members of this family branch did settle in Chicago. Thanks, Ruth ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to COOK-CO-IL-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
