In Chicago, Illinois for the year 1888, did they have marriage applications for marriages? I have the marriage license for Mary Andersen & her 1st husband, Conrad Strand but there is no family information on the license. Now that I know that Mary/Marie Andersen is the birth mother of my grandmother, I am trying to find something to start with to find parental information on Mary. The only thing I know is that she was born Dec 1869 Norway & that she came to the United States when she was about 16 years old (according to the 1900 census). Thanks, Donna
Donna, Yes, there are marriage applications, but if you have the certificate, you have the application which is the top part of the certificate. The only other item contained in the applications is a signature (many times just an "x").
