    3. Hi List, Searching for John SCHEFFUS (all possible spellings) in the 1910 US Census, City directories, etc. Trying to discover his parents. According to the 1930 US Census he would have been born ca 1895. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Carolyn (TX)

    3. John Scheffus is living in Ward 12 during the 1910 census. Henry Sheffus age 41, wife Mini age 36; John, son, age 15; Henry, son, age 13; Edna, daughter, age 8; Elanor, daughter age 2. Everyone is born in IL. Henry (Sr.)'s parents were born in Germany. Henry is a baker in a bakery and they rent a house. They have been married 6 years. Since John was born in Chicago, you might check the state archives for the marriage of his parents. The SSDI has his death as Sept. 1967 location of last payment Lake Villa, Lake Co., IL. He registered for the WWI draft June 5 1917 as a single man, no dependents living at 2825 (S?) Karlov Ave, Chicago, IL, place of birth Chicago 2 Jan 1895 employed by International Harvester Corp as an elevator man (the guy who controls the elevator in the bldg).     3. The 1900 Census [IL, Cook, West Town] has Schefuss, Henry, 31, b. Jan 1869 Germany [in USA 15 yrs, NA] , Minnie, 25, b. Nov 1874 IL [3 kids born, 3 living] , John, b. 5, Jan 1895 IL , Harry, b. 4, May 1896 IL , Lillie, b. 1, Mar 1899 IL Henry is listed as a cooper and they have been married 6 years.
