    3. Jim, Have you tried to e-mail anyone at Ellis Island? If the photo is of something in their collection, they probably had to give permission for its use, and they may have more information on when it was specifically published. Another possibility is that they MAY offer (reissued?) copies of that magazine (or maybe just prints of the cover) in their bookstore/gift shop. We hit LOTS of National Park sites, and they tend to offer items that are very specific to their site (even reprints of Cobblestone magazine for kids). Their web page is: http://www.nps.gov/elis/index.htm and there's an e-mail link on the left-hand side. My husband has had pretty good luck corresponding with NPS locations via e-mail (not regarding something like this), so it might be worth a try. Good luck.
