I've been searching for my husband's grandmother's passenger list record and I have found a very good candidate. Her name was Margaretha Schmidt (listed at ellisisland.org as Marjaretha Schmidt). She lived in Galicia and arrived in New York, bound for Chicago, in 1905. It says she was going to join Peter Frohlich and Ferdinand Haus, something about an unnamed sister, at 52 Gardiner Street, Chicago. That's best as I can read. I don't know these two names but I found their passenger records. Ferdinand lived in Galicia and came to New York bound for Chicago in 1903, to join with cousin Peter Frohlich at 192 Union Street, Chicago. Peter Frohlich lived in Galicia and came to New York bound for Chicago in 1902, to join a name I can't read with no relationship that I can tell at 201 Union Street, Chicago. My thought is that perhaps Ferdinand Haus was Margaret's brother-in-law and if so, I'm probably on a wild goose chase trying to track down Peter Frohlich as he wouldn't be part of our family. I'm very interested in learning about Margaret's family as we know nothing. It's hard for me to imagine she would have come to this country without any other family here. I have access to Heritage Quest, but haven't sprung for an Ancestry subscription yet. Couldn't readily find either of these men in Chicago in 1910. People born in Galicia are usually listed as being born in Austria which is what it was prior to WWI. Anyone recognize these names or have any suggestions for me for finding Ferdinand Haus in 1910 Chicago? Thanks Robin in Short Pump -- No virus found in this outgoing message. Was Schmidt Margartha's maiden name or married name? If maiden, what was her husband's name?
