I just got around to checking the "Probate Will Index" and "Probate Case Search" databases and was pleasantly surprised to see five possible relatives. I made note of the case numbers and filing dates. Are these public records? I looked all over the site but I couldn't details on acquiring copies. Has anyone had experience with this? Hi, I requested the Probate Wills of both my grandfathers and received them in a short amount of time. I didn't even have the Index Number or Filing Date. I filled out the Probate Will Request at the Cook County site, did whatever they asked of me, and received the complete court proceedings. At first I was just curious to know what was contained in these papers. After reading them I discovered that one of my grandfathers had 10 children, not 8 as I knew at the time. This led me to find those birth & death certs plus locate the graves of the children. This led to even more interesting information. Good Luck in getting those Probate Will papers. Go for it!
