Looking for some advise. One year ago this month I called the Cook Co. Coroner's office to obtain inquest records for family members. I was instructed to send a letter with pertinent info along with death certificates. I initially sent for info for five records. After a couple of months and a number of phone calls later I was requested to send info in on six other records that I was searching for as well, as the person that searches these records would be able to obtain all at one time. Now I am waiting for eleven records total. I have made numerous phone calls to the specific person that searches these records in the "warehouse," her supervisor in medical records department, and a supervisor with the Cook Co Coroners office (names withheld). I have faxed and refaxed this info several times to each person and have made between 2-4 calls every month. I have received almost every excuse imaginable as well as numerous promises to provided me the inquest records requested. I have remained cordial thru out this ordeal. Needless to say, now one year later, I am no closer to receiving these records than when I initially requested them. It seems that pursuing this present course is fruitless. I live in another state now and cannot just drop in to try to handle this in person, but having faxed all the info and following up with phone calls has accomplished nothing to this point. I am asking advise as to what better course of action I might take at this point to finally receive the requested inquest record information? Any suggestions or strategies will be most welcome as I am completely frustrated. I am a Federal Government employee myself and understand the "wheels of government grind slowly," but this is ridiculous! Thank you very much, Sincerely, William A.
