Cooksters, I learned recently that my great-grandfather, Charles C. Fredigke, received a certificate from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Chicago (P&S) in 1887 about 6 years after it was founded. He was issued a State certificate to practice on March 7, 1887. The College of Physicians and Surgeons of Chicago is the predecessor of the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. Does anyone know if records of P&S still exist? I am trying to determine the birthplace of Charles C. Fredigke in Hesse Kassel, Prussia and would like to see if such records could give clues.
