Hi Jan; Here are a couple of articles which may be relevant. Cheers, Masugu REUNION STORY HELPS MAN FIND HIS BROTHER Chicago Tribune January 2, 1988 Author: Associated Press. Estimated printed pages: 1 A newspaper article about a father and son who were reunited after a 12-year search has helped a Michigan man end a similar quest. About two weeks ago, Jeffrey Weaver, 28, of South Bend met his father, Wilbur Weaver, in a local tavern. The South Bend Tribune carried the story of how the younger Weaver had finally ended his search for his dad. Linda Piechocki of Dowagiac, Mich., saw the newspaper and ``nearly died,`` she said. There, on the front page, was a photograph and story of her husband John`s half brother. ``I opened the story and said, `How nice.` Then I saw the names. Maybe it was just a coincidence,`` Mrs. Piechocki said this week. When her husband saw the newspaper, he knew he had finally found his brother. The paper helped the Piechockis track down Weaver, and a couple of days before Christmas the brothers talked together on the phone for the first time. The day after Christmas, they met at the same tavern, Zolie`s Restaurant and Bar, where Weaver had found his father playing pool. ``We walked in and saw him,`` said Piechocki, 30. ``There was a moment I didn`t know what to do-hug him, shake his hand or what.`` They shook hands and then hugged. The two spent nearly 10 hours getting acquainted. Piechocki was raised by his mother, identified only as Mary Ann, who gave Weaver to some family friends when he was 6 months old. ``I always knew I had a brother,`` Piechocki said. ``By the age of 11 or 12, I knew I had to find him.`` Mrs. Piechocki said she and her husband had spent the last two years searching for Weaver, whose last name they did not know. ``A part of him (her husband) was always missing,`` Mrs. Piechocki said. ``He was always unhappy. He would wonder if his brother was well or warm in winter.`` Edition: NATIONAL Section: NEWS Page: 6 Index Terms: INDIANA; MEDIA; FAMILY; FOUND; MEETING Dateline: SOUTH BEND, IND.
