The "redundancy" seems typical to me in this kind of beta site. You wouldn't really want the data that was there before to "disappear." I did two searches. I've been looking for my grandfather in the 1920 US census for years. I know where he should have been because I know where an aunt was born a few days after the census date. Even searching on my grandfather's name, in every search engine I know of, and asking for volunteers in that county to search, hasn't turned them up. I tried just now as searn as I learned of the beta test. HIs name didn't turn him up there, though most of the data points I knew of did show up. Using her name, there she was! So I'm very grateful to this beta site. It would have seemed strange to NOT see all the stuff I'm used to finding on this couple. It provides the context. I would expect them to add the new data in, not just provide a new data set. They may actually be holding them separate, but fold them together for the user until all the glitches are out. Usually a beta site is the precursor to the final site. If you are finding redundancy in the data, then I suspect that they have merged data from the original and pilot sites into the beta site. P.S.: Beta is a term used for a pre-release version that is put out to the testers--in this case the users-- to find any bugs in the program. Then the bug fixes are applied and the final version is released. I believe you will see only one search engine when they migrate later this year.
