Hi Fred; Actually they weren't bad for the time--I've seen a lot worse in my family. Even in the 1950's when I was growing up in Chicago, my extended family rented for the most part and moved fairly often. The general trend seems to have been for the wealthy to buy and stay put. Those not so blessed rented and tended to move to "better" digs whenever the opportunity arose. BTW: Though "itchy feet" works fine for a native Chicagoan like myself, the local idiom here in Maryland would describe them as having "sand in their shoes." Cheers, Masugu [email protected]
