For those of you who gave me so much help on this name, my daughter's grt uncle informs me that the name sounded nothing like Szermeta or Szeremeta and was very long. This, of course, means he's heard it at sometime during his lifetime and would probably recognize it. Your suggestions may help me to come up with a list for him to peruse. He has also agreed to let me send a DNA kit if I decide to go that way. That option is the furthest out because my daughter's father was adopted by this Szermeta family. It would benefit her uncle but not her. Now, spending the money on DNA is a matter of interest only. Still doing some poking around but wanted to thank all of you. Shirley
